There doesnt seem to be a place for Doctor Who chat (how could that be???!!!) and I just know there are many many of you Whovians lurking about so Allonsy! Let's talk Dr Who.

The latest episode was The Wedding of River Song. Very exciting. I loved it! Can't get enough of River, so I obviously loved the wedding itself. I thought how 11 escapes his death was cool, if not convenient. And DOCTOR WHO as the question, soooooo obvious, but still awesome. Love the ending! Bit like a reboot, eh?

What did you guys think? Loved it? 🙂 Hated it? 😡

What about Doctor Who in general? Who's your favourite Doc? Your fav companion? Fan of old Who or NuWho? etc.

i love doctor who and i think this past season has been REALLY good. i am a huge david tennant fan, so i was really reluctant to accept matt smith. but he has really grown on me, and, dare i say it, i think i might actually even prefer him as the doctor.
my favourite companion is definitely amy--i'm going as her for halloween since i dress similarly to how she does anyway haha.
"the girl who waited" = love. love rory too.
my favourite episodes from this season are "vincent and the doctor" and "the doctor's wife"

I love Doctor Who. I really liked the S6 finale. Ten is my favorite doctor. Basically, Ten is my doctor. I like Eleven and I warmed up to Eleven. Rose,Donna are my favorite companions. But I did like Martha and I like Amy.

i meant to say favourite episode from this season is "the doctor's wife" and last season is "vincent and the doctor"!:wink2:

Yay! Doctor Who fans! Yeah I started watching 9 first, I thought he was excellent, and then he regenerated into 10 and 10 just blew me away! 10 is definitely my Doctor also. But Matt Smith is rather brilliant himself, the way he acts, he's so young and yet when you watch him it feels like you're watching an old quirky man. I just love it. 😀

I've more or less only watched the new Doctor Who. Favourite doctor is David hands down. Matt surprised me in a good way though. Favourite companion is probably Martha, not a very common opionion I know. I thought Amy had a lot of potential but now I love Rory more.

As for season 6 the second part felt more "childish" to me. Better or worse is anyones opinion. As for the finale I'm a bit disappointed that "my" solution was the one being used to get out of trouble. Felt a bit easy and cheap to be honest. On the other hand why make everything complicated? An easy solution is often the best.

Is season 7 a sure thing? I've heard that the ratings has been dropping. If it come back it'll be interesting to see how they follow up the ending.
A doctor in hiding? Yeah for how long...

Ok, did a quick search. Seems season 7 is a go but won't air until autumn 2012 so we'll have to wait a year. But there must be a christmas special right?

Yes, there is a Christmas special this year. Not too far away now!

I hate that we'll have to wait a year. Sigh. I do look forward to the Christmas special.😀

I read an article earlier and the ratings are still very good - on a par with David Tennant's era and even more viewers if you include the people who timeshift (i.e. watch it on iPlayer, Sky+ or Virgin Tivo/On Demand).

yea i doubt BBC would let such a successful show go just yet..
Oh I didn't talk about my favorite companion. It's totally Rory. Even though he's more Any's companion . . . but still. He's awesome! And gets to wear cool Roman clothes while he's being all intense and cool.

Rose and Donna tie for second place for me though. I really like Martha and Amy too, just not to the same level.

So excited for the Christmas special. It's been one of my favorite Christmas presents for the past few years now. 😀

I love last years Christmas one. I wanted to hug pretty much everyone in it. Plus, you know, . . . Dumbledore. . . always good to see him. 🙂

I think this is where I do my usual thing of saying that I can remember watching a specific episode of Dr Who from 1978...although I wasn't a fan as such until about 1981-2.

Actually, one of the ways I found myself getting into Buffy was that when Who was off the air from 1989-2005, Buffy and the X-Files were two very acceptable substitutes with a similar balance of adventure, comedy and scares.

Man I'm one of those NuWho fans, but it's crazy to think there's been like 7 other Doctors I haven't watched. From what I've heard there are a few past Doctors that were especially awesome, like 4, so I'd love to one day get into some Baker episodes--and Hartnell, though I don't know how I can survive black and white tv.

I feel like I need to give the old Who a watch especially after watching the season 6 finale, and 11 mentions the Brigadier passing. I have very little knowledge of him, and I think that particular scene would have been more meaninful had I know what he was on about. ya know..

"Genesis of the Daleks" is a good Baker one to watch. It's got Davros and Sarah Jane. Plus it was interesting to see where the Daleks came from. :)

When I was in Sydney in 2004 ABC were showing 'Terror of the Autons' in B/W in the early evening. Of the Brigadier stories currently out on DVD, I'd recommend 'Inferno' and 'The Green Death'.

wickedtiger86 is right, Genesis of the Daleks is amazing

This is me. I'm a new watcher, too. I've watched the entirety of season 6, and just started on [2005] season 1. I remember my Dad watching the old Doctor on PBS. 🙂

We watched the first ep with the 9th Doctor, and last weekend my 10 year old said "Mama, can we watch Doctor Who, the next episode after Rose goes with the Doctor & they go to the future?" I thought, my job is done here LOL! So we watched 3 more eps and my boys heard what will probably be their favorite quote of the series: "Excuse me, would you mind not farting while I'm saving the world?" 😀

As a big Torchwood fan, do all of the Torchwood actors and/or characters appear in Doctor Who? Because I"m not far into season 5, and already there's Gwen (as a different Gwen) and Tosh! And of course I know I'll be seeing the first appearance of Captain Jack.

Does anybody know when the Christmas special will air on BBC-America?

Gwen and Ianto make appearances in season 4 of DW.

the special aired on BBC America last year so I imagine it will this year as well.

You mean as the Torchwood characters or just the actors? If I don't remember wrong the doctor asks Torchwood Gwen about her family history at some point. So in that case they adressed it at least.

Not Torchwood but the current female companion was also on the show earlier as a different character. It's not easy to spot her though.

Either as Torchwood characters or other characters.
I love Doctor Who! My favorite Doctor is the 4th Doctor and my favorite companion is Sarah Jane Smith! I started off with 9, and he's my favorite NuWho Doctor, mostly because he holds a special place in my heart for being my "first" Doctor. Oh, and if I had to pick my favorite NuWho companion, well, that'd have to be Rose! My favorite NuWho episode is Midnight, and my favorite classic episode is The Ark in Space, even though it's a bit silly, I just can't help but call it my favorite.
