1630 Revello Drive has the most charming door and it's one of the few things about that house that stays exactly the same over all 7 seasons (although sometimes there is a wreath or other ornament covering the middle window). This door is shown in almost every episode of the series.

I've always really liked this door. I'm not sure why - but I have this random personal theory that the three windows represent the three residents (Joyce, Dawn, and Buffy). It kind of serves to remind me during the earlier seasons that Dawn is there, too.

I've decided that I will (money permitting) have a replica of this door installed in my future house. 😉 It's just so pretty and simple, and I think it would be a lovely yet subtle little nod towards the series I love so much.

I took a couple caps of it but apparently I can't post images from Photobucket until I have 15 posts. 😱

Anyone else a-door this door? (see what I did there. harhar)

loving the pun work. keep it up :)
hahahahaha funny i've always liked the front door as well, i dunno why though. i like your theory though about it the three windows representing buffy, joyce and dawn. 🙂

glad im not the only one that a-doors the door. lol

I've always liked the door too. 😛

And that's actually a really good theory about the windows, I totally believe in that now. 🙂 If I'm ever able to get a door for my future house like that, I would also. 😀

I really like this! I think the consistant presence of the door was a nice touch to carry us through the seasons with Buffy. Made it feel like home for both her and us watching, I think.

I actually never noticed how often this door appears throughout BtVS, until you mentioned it.
And now that I do, your theory makes so much sense! There's more to the door than it seems; it symbolizes the bond and connection that all of the Summers family members shared with one another.

Oh gosh I'm thinking of The Body and Joyce now... kind of tearing up :'D

Glad you guys agree on how awesome the door is! Like, I could even imagine the door as a minimalist tattoo idea, just with the three rectangles.

It really is a comforting object. You get to see characters enter, leave, meet, and hang out over the course of the whole series. The cast changes, their lives change, but the same door is always there to welcome them... or to shut them out.

I bet you could make a spin-off from the perspective of the door, haha!

EDIT: Would anyone be interested in a game where you guess which episode is pictured from a screencap of the door (and whoever/whatever is near it)?

Haha! I love this thread!
I remember looking through those door windows when I visited the Summers house in Torrance California. I'm so glad the owners weren't home, I would've spent that night in jail for sure...

Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous!!! 😱

bottark It's an awesome house! They filmed season 1 in the actual house in Torrance so the layout is exactly the same! I'm just waiting for it to go up for sale...

Imagine the price tag on that real estate... :O
I also loved that door. It's also pretty important and regularly shown because they make a point of showing it whenever a vamp is trapped outside.

I liked the door too but I never lost any thoughts for it lol. For me it was a typical American-door-door. 😀

It's not really my type of architecture/interior design so I never lost any sleep thinking about it. Gimme Angel's mansion over Buffy's house any old day! I can understand where you are coming from though and next time I do a rewatch I will keep an eye out for the door and what it might signify.

Hm, I don't think I've ever paid attention to the door to Buffy's house actually, I'll have to keep a look out for it next time I watch to see what it looks like more specifically. Their house is pretty nice in general though. 🙂

Gimme Angel's mansion over Buffy's house any old day! .

Can we share it? I love Angel's mansion.

Can we share it? I love Angel's mansion.

We sure friggen can! I love me some Frank Lloyd Wright. Can't wait to get to Chicago and do some visiting of his stuff there. When I do the West Coast in 3 or 4 years I'll be visiting the mansion for sure.

I never really paid much attention to the door, honestly, but your theory makes sense... The three windows thing is a cool metaphor. :O)

oooo...never thought much about the door!

But really, now that I'm thinking about it, what better way to represent and reinforce the idea that home is supposed to be a safe haven than to show the door? Vampires can't enter with an invite. The door can't physically stop them, but the doorway can. It shuts out the bad things.

Of course, that never really seemed to help much on Buffy (that poor house got trashed more times than Xander could keep up with repairing it), but I think in the earlier seasons the idea was that when Buffy was home, she was just Buffy. Maybe there was a purpose to showing the door a lot - showing that she left her slaying life outside when she entered, and that her slaying life couldn't follow her in unless she wanted it to.

Or I could just be making up a lot of stuff. 😛

ecellent point! Also so long as you sound like you know what you're talking about, it doesn't matter if you really do or not :)
I love how we have a two page thread on a door.

Damn it. I just saw that this thread had reached two pages and went here to write pretty much the exact same thing. :)
