In "The Gift," as Buffy and Dawn are talking on the platform, a big F---ing dragon flies out of the portal and disappears into the night. Obviously, there is no canon answer to this, but what do you all think happened to that dragon? My personal belief is that, having flown out of hell and alarmed at the distinct lack of things that are on fire, the dragon flew to LA to make it in film. After starring in the abysmal flops "Dragonslayers" and "Reign of Fire", the fell Wyrm believed he was being typecast into low-quality work portraying the stereotypical "mindless beast" of yore. Giving up on it's dream of becoming the first green actor since Kermit the Frog to win an Academy Award, it then took a job as advertising secretary for the Law Offices of Wolfram and Hart, an organization which has always been sensitive to the unfortunate plight of the virgin-eating monstrosity. It was finaly slain in 2004 while trying to sell life insurance to Angel, Spike, and Illyria.

Lol at your personal belief. 😀

My guess is, he or she flied to somewhere safe and proper, like in some forests in California, starting a new life there. And maybe he or she is feeling lonely right now. 🙁

I think it was hanging out in the hollywood hills, a couple years went by, she saw a big army of ogres charging down a alleyway towards a couple dudes in trenchcoats and thought hey this will be fun! So she swooped down to get a better look and met a really nice guy named Angel who named her Cordelia 🙂

Oh...Poor dragon.

It needs a friend.

And BTW I didn't think of the Eragon thing, but very funny. And I meant to make it a Marketing and Sales rep.

LOL @ your beliefs... 😉

I always wondered about that dragon, too. I always thought it would be cool to see Buffy have to slay it later. 😉 Buffy the Dragon Slayer...

In reality, that's what I was thinking. Somebody has to slay it, otherwise its coming through the portal wouldn't really be a problem, and it is kind of Buffy's fault, if she had just leapt, or jsut let Dawn go, no dragon. I wonder how many peoples' sisters that dragon ate before/if it was put down.

I bet it flew to L.A. and was the same dragon that Angel wanted to slay in 'Not Fade Away.'

If you look at my timeline, that is kind of what I was getting at in my joke, only it didn't want to destroy him, merely sell him some insurance. Unfortunately, Angel did not speak dragon, and slew it.

The dragon from The Gift didn't look like the same dragon from Not Fade Away. It did look like the dragon from when Buffy trapped in her dreamspace in The Long Way Home. She even says "I know you" after he crucifies her through the hands and feet with his talons but before he engulfs her in flames.

Maybe it was biologically incapable of surviving on Earth. Like it requires some mineral in its diet that exists on its own dimension but not on Earth. After all, there are dimensions (Jasmine's praying mantises, in particular) where humans can't breathe the air.

Aww. Maybe she will meet Dragon-Cordelia and they'll start a family.

So the dragon in The Gift is a girl dragon then?
I was gonna say Dragon-Cordy was dead. But now I remember Angel reversed the time. 😀

No, but if she wasn't, it's less likely they'll have kids. ;)
I'm going to keep telling myself this:
This dragon, and all the other nonsense was sucked back into the portal, and later, in Not Fade Away she came back! 🙂
