Tim Minear explains the Premise and damn I wish we could've got it
Tim Minear explained some of the details about the spinoff and reasons why it did not happen:
"I had come up with a pitch. Eliza was gracious, kind and wonderful, but she felt like she wanted to do something new. There is no hard feelings there. But the show was basically going to be Faith meets Kung Fu. It would have been Faith, probably on a motorcycle, crossing the earth, trying to find her place in the world. I'm sure it would get an arc at some point, but the idea of her rooted somewhere seemed wrong to me. The idea of her constantly on the move seemed right to me. And she broke out of prison (on Angel) so there would have been some people after her."[2]

Iv finished the Rewatch and with a few episides aside like Once More With Feeling and Selfless, yeah they felt unescessary and Buffy dying to save the World in The Gift was the way to end it.

The BBC were up for a Giles show that was meant to be Cracker with Ghosts but Joss cooled off on it and did The Avengers instead

The Spike movie was meant to include Willow and Illryia with Tim Minear writing. It didn't sound like Joss really cared for it given he wasn't even going to do it himself.
 
Heck yeah I would've watched it! I think a number of BTVS/AtS fans would've crossed to watch it too, but I think the series would find more success with more familiar faces from the Buffyverse. Having Willow, Giles, Spike, Xander etc pop in every so often would draw in audiences.

I understand why Eliza turned it down. Following on from two great shows and following on from such a beloved character would've been difficult. Big shoes to fill.

I believe Principal Wood and Ghost Spike would also have been involved.

The Faith/Giles and Faith/Angel comics were the best of them as well

Robin would've had a laugh at ghost Spike!
I would have absolutely loved to watch a Faith spinoff. Ever since her introduction on BtVS, she was one of my favorite characters so I would have been all in.

Of all the proposed spin offs (Slayer School really ?) A Faith show was the best choice and I really really wish Eliza had not turned it down

As a person who liked "Kung Fu," "The Fugitive," "Sliders," "Star Trek," "Quantum Leap," and "Tracker," among many other "new place every week" shows, I would have loved that premise! Too bad it wasn't for Eliza, as I think it's been a popular theme in TV. It certainly would have been more typical for a Slayer than staying in one place as Buffy did, and I think it would have worked well.
 
Here's a question - so the Faith spinoff was planned as BTVS came to a close in 2003. Do you think there would've been an interest/audience if they had actually left a few years between and maybe launched it around 2010? (working under the assumption that Eliza would be on board).

Not 2010 but 2005, just have a couple of years to write the scripts and get the locations ready

I think a larger gap and putting some distance between the end of BTVS/AtS would've been better. Less pressure on Eliza.
The premise is vague, but I would definitely have given it a go! I am sure that the first season would have been a bit bumpy, but I see the potential

Of course, if she is always on the move it is difficult to get steady side characters that the audience can invest in

Supernatural mostly managed with that though. They had a serious dearth of consistent side characters, and they also had a tendency to die off.

I wonder where they'd film it ? Prison Break Season 2 was meant to be all over the country yet it all looked like the same film set 😄
Lets face it Faith does Cleaveland though it looks suspiciously like California wouldn't work.
Though a series set in Boston and the surrounding area might

Yeah, but they had two mains to anchor the show in. If Faith is on her own, where do you emotionally anchor it?
 
Another thought is if Spike ends up on this show then Angel doesn't get renewed so that ends in 2003 as well

I don't see any reason to suspect it wouldn't succeed. The WB/CW was still making Charmed, Smallville and Supernatural. Eliza was big enough as an actress that CBS wanted her. Buffy was cancelled because Sarah wanted out, Angel was cancelled because Joss believed his own hype.

The story premise is a proven success, early aughts TV was all about the continuing stories and mystery boxes, but given how many times Angel changed series format, there's a fifty percent chance that some cloaked demon takes a sledgehammer to Faith's bike, throws Robin to the Demon KKK and hires Wesley for the second season. Or that she starts hanging out with the A-Team and becomes the first useful female character in the history of that series.

My primary gripe would be that the writers got really lazy with the "Demon Biker" trope in latter seasons, of just taking a villain, dressing them up in Westmoreland understudy makeup, and calling them a Demon Loan Shark or a Demon Biker. That works in small doses, but "Demon Scabs try to interfere in a Demon Union Election" could get tiresome very quickly. Or Demon Sheriff tries to stop Demon Duke boys.
