So, something occurred to me last night when I was being all insomniatic and watching a few Angel eps.

I might be totally off base but think back to the scene in Salvage when Wes is contemplating the courage to cut off Lilah’s head after Cordelia has killed her.

When she first sits up on the table and talks to Wes, I get that’s what he’s imagining…but when Lilah walks around Wes and looks at herself and says “We’ll never know now, will we?” could that have been The First? Wes doesn’t appear to acknowledge or know she’s there, which rules out it being his imagination, right? Then the camera cuts and she is gone. Later on in the episode, she shows up again, in different clothes. Wes was not, to my understanding, aware of the First at that point, was he? He could have believed he was imagining everything.

To me this theory isn’t too off base. I mean, The First was sending his lackies around at the time, trying to kill of Faith and all.

…or is it Lilah herself? Her spirit? I doubt this, considering what an atheist shows both BtVS and AtS are.

I mention this because I know there is disagreement among the fans over Darla’s appearance in this season - when she comes back to talk to Conner. Some believe it was the First, and some believe it was her.

Thoughts?

It's possible because in S7 of Buffy during Chosen Angel says they "dealt with the first" not exactly that but something like that.

I think he was referring to the Buffy episode Amends when Jenny as the First.
You're right, he asks Buffy if it was the same thing that made him try to kill himself.

Good point but I think they probably would have made this fact known to the viewers. I think it was just Wes dealing with her death and the part of him that was tortured over the relationship they shared.

Yeah, agreeing with Rayne. Think it was just his imagination...or possibly it was WR&H doing something to mess with him. They do have the power over her even when dead. I just prefer to think that the stuff in angel was not the first, like to keep Buffy and Angel seperate.

Lilah wasn't the First. If you were employed by Wolfram and Hart, your contract extended beyond your death.

I think it's very plausable that it could have been the first. It was right at the same time as season 7 of Buffy and if I remember right there were like 3 or 4 eps where we didn't see the first at all in them. Also the first was trying to get rid of all that could potential harm it. Wes could be one of those people. If Giles had died then he could have very well come in and taken over. The first knew it couldn't get to Angel b/c it had already tried and Angel was much stronger now than he was in amends. I think it very well could have been the first, which makes me want to go rewatch it to really find out...lol.

I never thought DeadLilah was The First. Simply because the First was never actually "IN" Angel. It was a totally different apocalypse. (on different shows, on different networks... LOL). Yes, I know, I should stop mixing real life with my fantasy Buffy/Angel life.... : erm :

i believe it was most intel anyways... letting the viewers know what was going through his head and the emotion
