The First: Is it a solid form?

Ok, i was wondering if the First when it took form of a human was solid? Cause i coulda swore that it was and wasnt. Plz help!
 
It never was never a solid entity, from what I recall. It didn't take over him though, just give him alot more power.. I thought? idk?
 
The First itself isn't solid, it took over control of Calebs body to strenghten him but it wasn't harmed in any way by being bisected!
 
The First itself was never corporeal.

It merged with Caleb, making him stronger but not up to the strength The First Evil should have. It also destroyed it's ability to become anyone, anytime.
 
It wasn't corporeal. That was unfortunate, because all of those uber vamps should have been guarding something physical that could actually have been defeated. That would have made a lot more sense.
 
Agreed, palabravampiress. I mean, in Chosen, they didn't even kill The First. They barely slowed it down, imo. Cause, there's more than just Sunnydale for The First.
 
wasn't it like squished down into the hellmouth and can't return? you can't beat the first evil...without it you can't have good and that would be bad!
 
No, thats not what I meant. I mean it can't come back like it did. It still exists but it can't challenge good like that again
 
Yea.... I guess they wanted to go out all heroic and cool and throw away good storyline for an epic battle
 
I think they were just trying to slow it down.

That's why I was screaming, "It's not a good plan, idiots!" when Giles said it was just crazy enough to work. Work how so?
 
well they wouldn't have been able to hold off the vamps any other way..
 
The uber vamps weren't defending The first really. They were his army, basically it seemed that The first planned to kill all the potentials then Kill The slayer, so there was no real threat to it. Then it was going to do something, like open the hellmouth, once the bad guys had the upper hand (Loads of monsters, no Slayer) the balance would be shifted, this makes the First solid, or makes it able to enter every person.

Don't forget we hadn't really seen what the Firsts end game was, this wasn't like all the other times where the bad guy had this huge plan and Buffy stopped it. Buffy's plan was to bring the fight to the First, She got there before the First got to reveal it's big plan. It still had a good few potentials to get rid of, when you look at the amount in the comics, so it didn't seem like we got to see everything.

And with it's Army destroyed, and the good guys now seriously unbalancing the scales the first can't complete it's plan, so yes it can come back but it will need another plan before it can do anything. And since it took so long for this opportunity to present itself, looks like he's out for awhile.
 
Well, they couldn't even kill the vamps if plot holes were not of the many.

Well, actually, Keanoite, they weren't holding them back. All those vamps were in the hellmouth, and they opened it. If they didn't, they would still be trapped there.

just like they opened the thing up and one came out.. they tried to open it a second time one nearly came out...
the slayers open it and the vamps are 100's of feet away and don't even try to get out !!!

But, I still highly doubt that their whole army would be in Sunnydale.
