The First Mystery of Angel 5

Well, W&H does make deals with evil. Maybe they made a deal to hand Angel the amulet so that he would be killed and never be able to fight evil again and when the First asked the Seniors Partners if they thought that that plan would actually work, they jokingly said, "We'll make Angel CEO of W&H if it doesn't." Just a theory.

The First Evil is not gone. What Buffy, Spike and the others did was defeat the First Evil's plans to turn this dimension into a demonic one. Remember that the First Evil is an insidious, non-corporeal being. It is simply the origin of evil. And as long as there is evil in the world and within everyone, it will always be around.
 
Okay, it's confirmed for me that the masked mailman has something to do with later eps. He was in "Conviction" and "Just Rewards" and last night when I watched "Unleashed", the director purposely shot one scene with Spike standing off to the side and that masked mailman pushing the cart behind him. I don't read spoilers so some people already know what the mailman will do in future eps.
 
I still believe it's possible to make a few informed predictions based on the continued clueage of that mask.

1. It's a mask worn by Luche libre, or Mexican wrestlers. Joss Whedon is a Hollywood Liberal and likes to bring in minorities, and special interests. So far Latinos have been lacking in the Buffyverse. Look for some of those.

2. Joss Whedon doesn't mind borrowing bits and pieces from stuff he likes. It's kind of an Homage. He writes for Dark Horse comics. Dark Horse has a Luche Libre comic. It intertwines present day Mexican spiritualism, with the mythologies of the ancient Mexican civilizations (Mayan, Aztec, Toltec) Look for some of that.

3. In Buffy 7 and this year's Angel they've been preaching at the idea Good or Evil don't exist as independent absolutes. They're part of the same thing. The first time I ever heard that idea was in a series of books by a guy called Carlos Castanedas. They're famous amongst Arts major types. They're supposed to be non fiction, and they concern a Yaqui indian sorcerer. The Buffyverse is starting to look very Castanedian. I would say watch out for Mexican Indian mysticism.
