The First on Angel?

I would think the First wouldn't resurface for a long time...I think he would need more time to gather up the troops again and wait for the "perfect" moment to attack. You can never kill the first, but you can sort of send it into remission.

I don't think the First was Darla's ghost. . .

-- I'm thinking if it would've been, it would've made Conner girl the girl, and bring about that other thing that was supposed to be the evil.

I believe that Darla truly cared about her son, and because of that, she was able to come and save him before he was condemed to the fate of being evil, like she was.

Is it just me or wasn't the Lilah in Salvage just an inner conflict within Wesley that they illustrated on screen. It'sa thing they've been doing in movies since ever!

I don't think Darla was really the First. I'd like to think she was sent there by the Powers that Be to convince Connor not to bring the child to term. But then again, she didn't exactly say how she was there. I guess everyone just assumed she was being sent there. But you never know, it could've been the First. I don't think she ever touched anything, so that would help your theory. I don't know, I'm undecided.

On Angel season 4 episode 17 (inside out) when Darla's "ghost" talks to Conner to try and stop him killing that girl (so that Cordy could give birth to Jasmine)
Well I think that Darla's "ghost" was actually the First



Well at about the same time Jasmine's efforts of world peace happened the Hellmouth was causing havoc in Sunnydale that's the balance (L.A. = Happy Happy and Sunnydale = Apocalypse.) So the First tried to tip the scales by making world peace not happen by looking like Darla, but it didn't work.

What do you peeps think.

About the Darla being The First--I disagree. Rather, I think Darla is something we haven't seen in the Joss-verse before or since--I think (well first of all, it was something set up by The Powers, but anyway, I think) the Darla-ghost was The Good The First. When she shows up, it goes like this:
DARLA-GHOST: The Powers have sent me to give you a message.
CONNOR: You can't be my mother.
DARLA-GHOST: I have her memories--her feelings. Isn't that what makes a person who they are?
And, in saying this, the Darla-ghost is all but admitting (although I did not originally realize it when I saw the ep) that she is not Darla, at least not Darla the way Connor is expecting.

But... (switching back into season seven Buffy for a moment), when Spike says to Drusilla/The First, "you're not Drusilla," and she repsonds, "No. I'm really not," she's not lying. But also, when The First/Mayor Wilkins appears to Faith and says that he is The First and Mayor Wilkins at the same time, I don't think he's lying either.

So, with Darla-ghost's statement, it seems clear that she's something similar. But based on what she said and what Evil Cordy says just a little bit later, I'm inclined to believe Darla-ghost also isn't The First. So, by process of elimination, we're left with... The Good The First. 🙂 (Athough, I suppose symantically it would read better as "The First Good", it sounds funnier the more awkward way.)

Another important thing about that scene that I didn't grasp eariler: The reason why The First Good (or Darla-ghost or whatever) chose this particular moment to pop up is that it was the crucial one. The final decision really was up to Connor, and if he had not sacrificed the innocent female, it's likely Angel would have shown up in time before the baby was born, etc, etc. This is important because Skip was just telling team Angel about how they had no chance and everything was fated. For the story to be meaningful it should be the case that there was always some point, however small, at which we could (or in this case Connor coudl) have made a different choice.

Although, it's really not so fair having a Power intercede with the Darla-ghost thing. But then Evil Cordy (with all the latent power of a fallen Power within her and starting to get closer to waking up) also plays dirty pool here by being able to perceive the vision of Darla-ghost and tell Connor it's all a trick. (See usually, you're not supposed to be able to see a vision from God that wasn't meant for you--it's a bit like reading someone else's mail. 🙂 )

All in all... pretty interesting stuff, I must say. 😀
