The First Slayer

I'm confused about what the first Slayer's motives are. The first time we saw her was in "Helpless" and she tried to kill Buffy and her friends in their sleep. Does anyone know why? Next time we saw her was in "Intervention" where she was a guide to help Buffy. Then we saw her in Buffy's dream in "Get It Done" where she tackled Buffy down the stairs and told her "it's not enough. Was the first Slayer confused or evil? I mean, she goes from trying to kill Buffy, to helping her, to tackling her down the stairs.
 
I don't think she's evil. I think she was angry in Restless for them tapping into her power. I think she is trying to warn Buffy when she tackled her down the stairs. If anything she was probably more confused than anything IMO.
 
What does IMO mean? People use that all the time and it confuses me.
 
I think that she's good...

She just had a creepy way of getting her point across...🙂

Ok, thanks for giving me the definition LoL.

Well, she can't be pissed that Buffy tapped into her power, because it's Buffy's power now. And I guess the first Slayer was never taught respect and stuff like that because she was 'raped' in a way to be the Slayer and manners and what not wasn't around back then.
 
She first appeared in "Restless," not "Helpless."

She wants Buffy to be the definition of a Slayer, I guess, so that would mean being both isolated, yet full of love...

That would make sense. The First Slayer said "no friends. just the kill. we are alone" and then Buffy started the fight. So, maybe the First Slayer only wanted to kill her friends but not her but since she started the fight she carried it on. I don't know lol.
 
I think they explained why The First Slayer attacked them in Restless, They tapped into a primal force which they werent suppose to so they had to be taught a lesson. She is the first slayer and older then the master so all she knows is the hunt.

And when she tackled Buffy down the stairs and telling her its not enough, she was also trying to tell her something. Buffy if she wanted to defeat The First successfully(probably by herself) she wouldve had to take the extra demon power from the Shamens, in later episodes Buffy even talks about it like once.
 
She wanted Buffy to be isolated from her friends because in the end, as "Becoming P2" said so well, all you got is yourself when you're the Slayer. The scene in "Intervention" was to let her know that she was doing the right thing by sacrificing herself at the end of that season.

I think you've hit jackpot, that's probably her motive indeed! So I guess, we can define her as good!
 
I think she's good and she's willing to fight for humanity, but her opinions were affected by what she was taught. The Primitive was shaped by those first Watchers into a traditional Slayer, much like Kendra. She was alone, isolated, and only knew about the black and white of things. Good vs. evil. The Primitive sees Buffy with all her friends and wants to show Buffy what being a Slayer truely means, I think. Buffy is still isolated as the Slayer, with or without her friends, but Buffy has support, unlike the First Slayer. The Primitive is just helping her find out about her heritage, IMO.

We don't really know that the First Slayer had a black-and-white morality mind set. And yes, I believe that the First Slayer knew there was nothing wrong with being alone. She knew that despite being surrounded by friends, a Slayer or any other individual can only depend upon her or himself in the end. Both Buffy and Faith came to this conclusion in "End of Days". And if the First Slayer was able to be effective without a Watcher and by utilizing the heart, mind, spirit and hands of a Slayer, why couldn't Buffy or any other Slayer that followed the first?
 
I think she wanted Buffy to be trapped like she was... forced into being a slayer as we saw in "Get it Done".
That would explain her trying to kill all her friends.

But I'm not sure about when she told Buffy about her Gift. Maybe because she was called upon as a spirit guide, and it was a different situation?

What you guys are saying makes a lot of sense.

SpikedBuffy - yeah, but then again wouldn't she get mad because she was being summoned. i mean, she got mad when they tapped into her power. yeah... who knows... lol
 
I think she wants to keep Buffy like her (i.e. isolated or more like a traditional Slayer), but at the same time, maybe the Primitive also wants to guide Buffy in the right path as the First Slayer did in "Intervention"... I'm confusing myself.

Who is the Primitive? Isn't she the same one as the First Slayer?
