That was many years ago, probably when it still aired. I think I saw a TV spot or something and the only thing I remember is pretty much this image of Darla with her vamp face:

I always figured it was something like The X-Files which my mom used to watch. For years, every time I heard or read about Buffy, I only thought of that particular picture of Darla. Of course I didn't know her name was Darla. It's even possible that I thought she was Buffy, but I can't really remember. 😀

How I eventually became addicted to the show is an entirely different story, though.
When did you first learn that there was something called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or whatever it's called where you're from? Did you immediately start watching the show? For me it took quite a few years.

Me and my Dad used to watch it together late at night. I was like only 10 or even abit younger. I think I couldn't get to sleep one night so I watched it. I used to find it scary at that age but loved it. My brother is about the same age as I was then and me and my Dad tried getting him to watch it but he is scared of vampires. I'm sure in time will love the show like I do 🙂

I caught it on channel 4 one day. It was Innocence and i was hooked after about 10 seconds. I had heard of it, but didnt expect it to be that good. Loved it.

I think I read about it in the channel part of the newspaper. In Swedish, it was called "Buffy and the vampires" and I though "Hmm, vampires. I should check it out". So I did.

I used to watch alot of Teen Nick, and they started playing the episodes, and they had a pretty frequent ad campaign for it, so I ended up hearing about the characters from that. Eventually I started watching it, and since it was in the middle of Season 2, I didn't know what was going on. Luckily, I managed to find Season 1-3/ 6-7 on DVD at the local Wal-Mart (Classy, I know 😛), and I took a chance and bought them in order. Once I started watching, I was hooked. I think I watched up until Episode 7 of S1 in one night.

Eventually, I got Seasons 4 & 5 from amazon, and I started watching Angel on TNT until I got those on DVD as well. The addiction grew 😛

I never heard about it. I didn't even know of the existence of Buffy until I was like 10 years old, and I was channel surfing. I had caught the ending of "The Gift" and I was so wrapped up in her death that I was crying all night. I didn't know who these characters were or what the show was about, but when I saw her jump to her death, I started crying as if I had lost a family member. 😉 Then, near the end of summer, the UPN's "Buffy Lives" ads started popping up everywhere.

So I had to tune in for the sixth season. And I've been a proud Whedonverse fan ever since. 🙂

Working for Blockbuster, I had seen the movie, but not having satellite TV at the time I didn't know about the show at all. I took a two week vacation from work and when I came back there were four rental tapes, each with two episodes each on them. I used some of my free rentals on them and the rest, as they say, is history.

About six years ago, I think I was in Grade 11 (god, has it been six years?), I was hanging out with my older brother and he mentioned that he'd like to watch this show called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" with me, and that I would really like it. To say the least, I wasn't excited. I thought the name was dumb, I thought it was going to be lame and corny, but because threatened not to lend me anymore of his comics until I watched it with him, I decided to give it a shot.

Right off the bat, I liked it, but it wasn't until S2 that it started blowing me away. I dug Angel right off the bat, and right from the get-go I was into Buffy. For pretty much the rest of high school, she was my big crush (well, okay. Rest of high school and oh, continuing on today as well).

Once I got into S2, I watched it every day. Being that I was the same age as Buffy in those seasons, I really identified with it and S2 and S3 were really cool for me.

I remember hearing about it not long after it aired. It was being shown on sky one here in the U.K and they advertised it in their monthly magazine. My sisters friend was really into it and told my sister to watch so she did and i happily joined her, I have loved it ever since. 🙂

I think I may be one of the few here who started with the movie.... I never saw it in theaters but I remember it being pretty new-ish on VHS (hahaha) and watching it with my best friend - being 16 and just freaking FALLING IN LOVE with Buffy and the whole idea around it and her!

I found out about it in 2009. My mom was watching it, and I walked in and saw three episodes ("Villians", "Two to Go" and "Grave"). Of course I had no clue what it was, but I was interested. Since then, I requested all the seasons from my library, then bought them once I officially claimed support for it.
Howewer, the first episode I ever saw was a few years earlier. I remembered seeing part of some show involving cheerleaders and magic, which was actually a rerun of the episode "Witch" on FX. I had no clue that years later, it would become my favorite show of all time.

I'm not sure when the exact first time was. But I do remember Buffy being discussed at times on another forum I visited a lot back in 2001, 2002 or whenever it was.
Will recall that a few members also had avatars with Buffy characters, I specifically remember one with a Spike avatar.

I didn't pay much attention to those discussion though. It wasn't until later, on the same forum, when someone mentioned Firefly and had news about the upcoming movie Serenity that I got interested.
Thought immediately that Firefly sounded like an awesome show so I bought the DVD box so I would've seen the series before the movie was released. Absolutely loved the show and decided to check out that other Joss Whedon show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer...

After my second or third rewatch of BtVS I decided to check if there was any active Buffy forums still around. That made me found this place. 🙂

I had seen the movie in the mid 90's and thought it was about the stupidest thing I'd ever watched. LOL And then during my spring break of my freshman year in high school, I was sleeping over at my best friend's house and she was like "Oooh! I forgot Buffy the Vampire Slayer is on tonight!" I was less than thrilled about the show til I actually saw it. The first ep I ever saw was "The Witch" and it was pretty good. I really liked the cast, and the storyline. It wasn't enough to turn me into a fan, at that point, but it definitely piqued my interest. 🙂

I saw tv spots for it on TV4. What caught my attention was the girls. I couldn't care less about the vampires. It wasn't enough to make me want to watch the show but it aired about the time I got home on week days so I ended up putting it on. Wasn't hooked straight away but in time I sure got there.

In Swedish, it was called "Buffy and the vampires"
Ah yes. Buffy och vampyrerna. I'd forgot that. Thought it was Buffy: vampyrdödaren (Buffy: Killer of vampires) but that's the movie.

I think they changed it later to vampyrdödaren, or vampyrdråparen( vampire slayer). It's on some channel now, but I think it might be the English name that's used.
