The First's Incorporeality

I'm aware that 'Jenny's' touching Angel in season 3 was a mistake on the writer's behalf, I'm not denying that, but do you think that it would have been interesting if The First had been faking it's incorporeality? I guess for it to be corporeal would have been a bit of a stretch since it was..well...dead people, but I think pretty much everything is a possibility in the Buffyverse 😀

What do you mean by faking it? Like it could somehow trick them into thinking that their hand was going through it...when it wasn't? Or that no one could touch it, but then it's revealed that it can touch who/whatever it wants? Well that would be an unfair advantage 😉. Also, I liked that manipulation was really it's only power.

I guess it's possible. But if the writers somehow put that in the storyline now, they would have to come up with one hell of a explanation for why it didn't break Buffy and the others necks. I mean, it was killing Potentials to wipe out the slayer line, which I assume(not sure if it was mentioned on the show of it it's just a fan theory) was so it could end existence without meddlers*. So not doing what it could to kill the slayers make no sense. And to be honest, if the writers somehow re-wrote history like that, and gave The First more motives or plans or whatever, I would be bored and annoyed with it. Like how Skip said Jasmine had planned her birth through being behind lots of events. Kind of made Ats's characters and plots seem less great and interesting since they were manipulated(assuming Skip wasn't full of it.


*Probably the reason it tried to take out Angel too, since he was the vampire with a soul, destined to fight for good(I believe that's what the propechy said, anyway).

Every time Conversations with Dead people comes on (like it did the other night) I get very annoyed by this very subject. If the First could do all those things to Dawn and manipulate inanimate objects as well as be many places at the same time how did the Slayer army stand a chance? I realize exploding microwaves isn't going to have the same impact the second time around but it does lend the First some pretty formidable physicality. I mean I love Joss but it is pretty obvious it's just Deus ex machina with a little less than a God and a little more than a machine.

Hmm... I like it that the First is incorporeal. But if it wasn't, it would, as [MENTION=8557]Skytteflickan88[/MENTION] pointed out, probably just kill all of the Scoobies within a couple of minutes and then be on its merry way.
