Disappointing not to win but the US are a good team who beat Spain last year. Just got to make sure we win the next two games which we should do :smile3:

Chayeah! A draw is better than a loss, I'm really liking the United State's play this year. England of course is a good team, but US pull it through baby! :cheering:

I actually hope that Green isn't removed because of that blunder. It was stupid and a huge amateur mistake but I really don't want him to be completely dismissed because of it. I really don't think it does anything beneficial for players to punish them. I know it's the World Cup but there's nothing to say that another keeper or any other player isn't going to make mistakes like that. I found the continual mistakes by field players in happily giving the ball to the other team much more frustrating.

I think it was a disappointing first game but we didn't lose so I shouldn't grumble too much.

1 - 1 flattered the USA IMO. Rob made a horrendous mistake but more than made up for it with his save later on...he will recover - he's had to play behind West Ham's woeful defence all last season, England's are a much better proposition 🙂 England will do much better in the next two group games I'm sure. Man of the match was Glen Johnson for me.

Admittedly i do not want him to be taken off because of the mistake but for me personally i want him off because i didn't want him to be the starting keeper for matches.

I do agree with that, people cannot be too mad for one mistake when players pass to the wrong team and make loads of mistakes in every single match they make. I think by now it's just come to the point where people expect the players to make constant mistakes 😛

Haven't got the World cup fever yet. Watched some of Argentina - Nigeria and England - USA. Luckily for Argentina they have some of the best players in the world. They'll need it since they probably have the worst coach in the tournament. He's definitely the craziest one. I'm happy for the draw between England and USA but I feel sorry for Green. I sure hope he plays next game as well.

I don't like Gerrard. He is a hypocrite who has a go at people for diving and then does things like this

As a Liverpool supporter I guess I need to answer that one. Does he dive? Yes. Does he dive too often? Yes. Does he dive badly at times? Definitely. I'll never deny that. So call him a hypocrite all you want. You have my blessing. 😉 It is however "fun" to see how people forget or ignore the fact that if not all but most teams have at least one player that fits that description as well and will blindly defend them no matter what. It's childish behavior, blame/accuse anyone else but yourself (or "your" players). Worst divers in Liverpool are Mascherano and Lucas though. Terribly bad at it and doing it all the time.

I support Man United and i don't doubt that Rooney dives but from what i know he hasn't come out in a autobiography and condemned diving, that's the point i was making.

Its annoying how people overeact about one result. Some people are talking as if we've been eliminated after that result last night.

You expect any less from the English media ? I swear, if England never win the World Cup again then the media will be one of the major reasons & if they do win it, then it will be in spite of the media. You can see the looks in the eyes of England players when they make a mistake or when things are not going well, they all start thinking, "Oh god, what are the papers going to say about this?" The media really needs to chill & just leave them alone for a few weeks, never gonna happen though.

Watched all the games so far and i know its early but its been a bit of a borefest. Things can only get better.

Yeah there haven't been any great games yet... maybe Germany and Australia can give us a good game 😀
On another subject, am I the only one who is irritated beyond belief by those damn bubuzela trumpet things? Buzzing away all through the games, sooo annoying. 🙁 Hopefully FIFA will ban them, they are thinking about it, apparently they've had complaints from broadcasters and supporters.

Ah, I hate those things! I'm not a huge soccer watcher, but I went to a game in Spain and some annoying kid had one two rows down from me. SO frustrating.

I haven't watched enough so personally I can't say. But I know loads and loads of people that hate them. And it started a year ago. So FIFA is late. But what else is new...

YES IT'S A PAIN!!!!!!! I mean come on... make noise when good stuffs happen, not every second of the whole game.

GERMANY I LOVE YOU!

First of all, I'm German, so super extatic over our win, second....that was by far the best game in this World Cup til now!

Although I live in the Netherlands, we were in a more or less German bar (officially it's a student bar, but that's just a synonym for German in this town) and it was the first German game I really watched among Germans, in a bar. Oh it was beautiful! Everyone was chanting and cheering Germany on, we all had the time of our life!

I hope they'll continue like that! Say what you want about Germany, but we're still pretty good at football!

The Germans were very impressive, i feel sorry for the Socceroos they are the team i like the most other than my own country England.

Although a little one sided the game was a lot more enjoyable then what we saw in the other two games today. There was some good entertaining Football.

Germany have been the best team in the competition so far but maybe they've peaked too early? :biggrin3:

I'm not a fan of soccer(football) but damn this game between Spain and Switzerland was amazing, the last part of the second half, Spain was in their zone for like 10 minutes straight and they couldn't score.

Part of me is annoyed that Spain lost because I win money if they win the thing, but the British underdog spirit in me is positively gleeful. 😀

Seriously, how awesome was that game 😀

After this World Cup has been pretty lame so far (except the Germany game of course (sw)) it really needed a game like this!
The Swiss did really well! They might not be the best team in the world, but you gotta hand it to them that their defense is REALLY intact.
All in all, a really surprising game. Nobody really expected that. Can't say I'm sad...Spain go home 😀

And with this game, Switzerland has gotten the chance to seriously make it to the next round.

I don't mind if Spain win the whole thing but I'm glad to see Switzerland win. Most of the time the ones winning the whole thing starts off pretty bad. Even if that don't always mean that they lose any of the group games.

The Spain game wasn't exciting until the last twenty minutes. Switzerland were really negative and then got a goal on the break, fair play to them but in terms of entertainment i only enjoyed the last part of the game. It puts a lot of pressure on Spain now and if they come 2nd in the group they'll probably play Brazil which would be interesting.

Chile were excellent today. Finally a team adopted an attacking approach and as a result it was enjoyable to watch. Hopefully now all the first games are over teams will start being more expansive.
