The Future of Buffy

Again, why should she? SMG probably doesn't like going to fan conventions.

Do you think Nicholas Brendon, James Marsters, Anthony Stewart Head and David Boreanaz always want to do fan conventions? I'm sure there are times when they think "I really don't want to do this today". But they still go. Why? Because this is a way of giving something back to the fans and saying thanks. Do you think Nick, ASH and James got anything big out of doing the voices for the games? They did it because giving their voices would make the game more like the show and be more fun for the fans. These actors realize that without the fans there would be no Buffy. This is something I think SMG has overlooked.

Interestingly, most of the diva comments stem from SMG prefering to spend her free time with her original, pre-fame family and friends rather than with her former cast-mates. Ironic, isn't it?

SMG nixes an appearance on Angel

THIS BITES: Here's some "TV News" scoop from the new issue of TV Guide magazine (on sale now): Sarah Michelle Gellar won't be back as Buffy this season after all. The erstwhile Slayer "” who was in talks to do a two-episode arc on Buffy spinoff Angel during May sweeps "” has opted against picking up stakes again. Says Joss Whedon, creator of both series: "She feels it's not the right time." Gellar's rep declined to comment. In related news, the Scooby-Doo thesp has signed on to star in the horror film The Grudge, an English-language remake of the Japanese thriller Ju-On.

OMG this is all so dissapointing 🙁I'm so sad now! I'm not really sure where I stand on the whole SMG thing! I would really really really love to see her on Angel and see Spike and Angel battle it out, that would be great. And I think to an extent she owes us more. Buffy really got her known in Hollywood so she should give a little back. Angel is only running because of her character, and she should be proud of that and want to come back for an eppy or 2. But I can understand that maybe she would just want to take a year off from it, but one episode wouldn't be too much to ask from her. It would only be a few days of shooting if they did it quickly and it wouldn't tear up her big plans that she's said to have since Buffy is over.

However, i do feel like she is less involved in the Buffy world than the rest of the actors. Never seen her at a convention, signing autograpgs, etc. And, hate to say it, but what does it say that she's the only one not willing to voice the show?

That there are more important things in her life, than BUFFY. What's wrong with that?

I don't think that there is anything wrong with that. As the first part of my post implied, I have no hard feelings towards her, sympathize with her situationd and hold nothing against her. I was meerly posing a question / comparison.

Stupid Sarah.

...

Not apologizing. She's the only one in the games that didn't do her own voice, she refuses to do it for animated series. Biatch.

Well, suit it yourself then, don't help out Joss, just don't come crawling back to him, when your movie career miserably fails.

I'm pretty much on boat with No Angel. It's obvious SMG doesn't really give a dam about the Buffy-verse or it's fans. She's made that quite obvious in not taking the time to do voice over's and now this. But hey, it's her life, if she doesn't want to do it then that's fine. I just think it's to bad she doesn't give the fans that made her career a little more respect.

I don't really know her reasoms for not making things like other cast members, but I can't judge her so easily...

Bummer. On the other hand, if The Grudge takes off like the previous Hollywood remake of a recent Japanese horror movie (The Ring), then SMG might be looking at stepping up a rung or two on the Hollywood ladder. The Ring certainly wasn't Naomi Watts' first movie, but the success of that film shot her into the ranks of "A" list actresses. And I can't say that I'd be sad to see Sarah rockin' on top.

I am thinking they are going to use Sarah as a bargaining tool for season 6. What a nice thing they can wave at the network. "Lookie here....Sarah will be in season 6 if you renew us!"

hope that too...or maybe they are tricking us.i won't believe it untill season 5 is over, or till she says it herself.i have a strong feeling she will come to "ANGEL" and that this all was made just so we will be suirprised when she will come, exactely like what happaned with christian kane, but even batter coz now no one will suspect.
We have heard everyone from Joss to David say so, but has she said anything? No,so therefore i still hope and believe she will be on Angel sometime.

I dunno what to make of this news, I mean SMG movie is aight. But I'm thinking 'bout boycotting it. If she turns on us, we should turn on her!
