Am I the only one who is strongly under the impression that The Immortal is the demony-servant-like guy we see during the whole episode, listening to Angel and Spike, stoling the bag with the head,handing them the bag with the bomb in it? 😀

Umm, the bartender girl pointed at the dancing "Buffy" and The Immortal at the dance floor, and you can see his back. Doesn't look like that demon. And Buffy dating THAT? Funny thought though 😉
 
I know that we didn't get to see The Immortal but what about Spike and Angel in their past? It's too long since I watched the episode. Do we ever get to know if they know what he loooks like? Or confirmed that they don't?
 
No, it wasn't made clear enough, if they knew how he looks like.

I like this episode, it's very funny. But! Am I the only one who doesn't like the way Angelus is performed in the flashbacks? He's too dorky and acts EXACTLY like Angel in the same episode. This immediately caught my eye. Dunno if it was intented, because the whole episode is supposed to be funny all the way... But since I'm a huge fan of Angelus, it has been buggin' me a bit.

I thought that is would end up being that servant guy too but then they showed "Buffy" dancing with him and it clearly wasn't the servant. As much as I am curious to see what the Immortal looks like I think the mystery of him adds the intrigue and humor of this episode.
 
I wasn't very fond of this episode. I didnt like the fact that it was based around the jealousy of Spike and Angel over Buffy. Especially Angel's jealousy. I get the fact that Spike was jealous. But Angel is so much better with Cordy! I hate the fact that after her death they stopped talking about her and there was no grieving process.
 
My personal theory about the Immortal, based mostly on the way every woman who has ever met or associated with him for any amount of time was always so enthralled with him that he quite most likely be an Incubus demon or something quite similar. Basically the same way that a vampire feeds on his victim's blood, the Immortal would feed on their sexual energy. (And no, I had the idea long before the new series, "Lost Girl" was even thought of, and I've got the unfinished fan fiction to prove it) Part of his power would be to appear to be his victim's exact image of the perfect lover. (That would also explain why Andrew seemed to admire him so, but that's a different topic entirely) It would fit perfectly with the nearly exhausted state that we saw both Darla and Dru in after their little bout with him. Who else could drain a super being like a vampire that way?

Anyhow, that's my theory.

I think the idea of him being an enigma is part of his charm. It's interesting that Andrew says he's not perfect. I suppose we share Spike and Angel's curiosity as to how he's not perfect. I suppose the key may be the enigma, because it implies that he has something to hide. Angel was introduced as the mysterious guy but we are introduced to his weaknesses. Maybe the Immortal simply has a different set of weaknesses.

He doesn't seem the commitment type either, which i think implies a sense of loneliness. Maybe, like Angel, he's cursed in a way and fills the void with the exploits of which we are told.

I agree. Exactly. I thought the whole thing was tacky, but they couldn't get her on the show, so what could they do?
 
I found this episode funny. But hugely disappointed as they had hyped it up that the Buffy/Angel thing was gonna be in some way resolved, or at least given a good airing, with SMG and all......and then the meanie wouldnt do it so we got ANOTHER silly episode. Of which there were quite alot in S5 really.........
 
I thought for quite a while that it was going to be the servant guy but Angel and Spike would have recognised him, surely. That he almost got away from them numerous times the way the Immortal had eluded them in the past was quite funny.

It was an OK episode and I appreciate that they had to wrap up the Buffy-Angel-Spike relationship triangle thing before the show ended but I would have preferred it to have been earlier in the season/. The Mutant Enemy penchant for putting throw-away episodes just in front of the really heavy hitting season enders leaves me a little frustrated sometimes. I want my doom and gloom built up to in an unrelenting , ever more depressing march toward defeat not plopped in after a vampire version of the 'Road to...' series. 😀
 
I really didn't care for this episode too much. Mainly because after this one, there were only two more episodes left and it felt out of place. Prior to this, they were building Angel up as someone that had turned his back on his friends (the previous episode ended with him more or less blowing Gunn off and agreeing to help the Fell Brethren gain control of that baby) but in this episode, Angel seemed like "Angel" again as he and Spike chased after Buffy.

I would have preferred something focusing more on Angel and the whole "Circle of the Black Thorn" storyline.

And I know this may be blasphemy, especially on this Web site, but I am not a fan of Angel & Buffy together. I was glad that Sarah Michelle Gellar couldn't make it for the 100th episode since it resulted in us getting "You're Welcome" with Cordelia.

I think I would have enjoyed this episode more if it had taken place earlier in season five because there were some funny moments throughout.

The episode is definitely very light hearted and I agree it would have worked better earlier in the season.

It's not an unpopular opinion by any means, so no need to feel cowed. This is a buffyverse general forum, not for the couple buffy/angel. 🙂

(Even if it were an unpopular opinion, nothing is blasphemous. ;p )
 
I like the idea that the immortal is a woman. I have no evidence to back this up - I just like the idea.
