Just read that this will be coming out in November and that Claire Foy will take over the role of Lisbeth Salander!

I just don't see it. I think that physically. Claire's all wrong for the role. I read that Alicia Vikander turned down the part. Too bad, she would've been better.
So what do you all think about all of this, or about the movie/book in general?

Foy has mostly done period dramas up to now. My guess she is trying to brench out and re-define herself with roles like this and the new Steven Soderbergh film. Think is a little too much of a stretch. But I would be willing to give it a watch.

Noomi Rapace is Lisbeth Salander for me. Not really interested in seeing anyone else in the role.

Also not a fan of how they are expending the series after the author's death.

I'll agree that they should've used the material from Larsson's unpublished 4th volume when making the book (then film). 🙁 However, I think that Rooney did a great job as Lisbeth. Don't get me wrong I ♥ Noomi in this role. I think that they both gave great performances as the titular character. I think that Rapace's Salander is maybe a little more cold & kick ass. While Mara's was more rounded/complete individual. Also Rooney was more physically suited to the role as written in the original trilogy. 😎

I had to Google Claire Foy so clearly I don't know her work but she is very pretty! I think she looks a lot more "soft" or maybe sweet is the word, than the other two, and Lisbeth has such an edge to her that it's hard to imagine Foy in the role. I couldn't finish the movie with Rooney because of the way they talked in it, so I can't compare the portrayals, but I've been surprised by actresses before so I'm betting if Foy got the part, she gave a really good reading for it and might surprise everyone 🙂

Claire Foy is so lovely, I can't imagine she has the raw nerve to be Lisbeth. I mean, I only saw the first movie with Noomi Rapace and it really scarred me emotionally. I never watched the Rooney Mara remake.

Maybe she'll be good, I mean she is a great actress and very well respected here in the UK; it's such a dramatically different role to anything she's ever played before.

Not sure how I feel about this. Looks a little too much like a standard Hollywood action movie. Hope it'll be better. Claire Foy looks decent in the role, but a far cry from either Noomi or Rooney's masterful portrayals. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I guess it looks fine, a bit standard like you say and Foy looks decent in the role but… I don't know, there's something about her that just doesn't feel right. The previous actresses are also quite conventionally pretty but there's a hardness to them, an edge, mixed with vulnerability. Foy just looks sweet and a bit malplaced, no amount of make up and change the fact that it looks like she could take a shower and then go to some posh spot for tea.

Mostly I got soured when I saw that *mutters* Mikael *mutters* Persbrandt is in it.
