Enough about Bangel v. Spuffy. Where do you all come down on some of the other famous love triangles out there:

1. Team Edward v. Team Jacob (Bella)
2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly)
3. Ross or Joey (Rachel)
4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw)
5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie)
6. Gale v. Peeta (Katniss)
7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly)
8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Casablanca

Feel free to add other options for others. There are so many good ones out there of shows/movies, I have never seen.

1. Team Edward v. Team Jacob (Bella)

Edward, I mean who cares Bella didn't give a crap about anyone but Edward. This was the worst love triangle ever. If I'm being honest, I think Bella needed some time alone to become a more self empowered woman....

2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly)

Dylan and Kelly FOR LIFE.

3. Ross or Joey (Rachel)

Ross

4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw)

Big

5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie)

Eric

6. Gale v. Peeta (Katniss)

Gale damnit!!

7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly)

Zack

8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Casablanca

Rick, never ever settle.

1. Team Edward v. Team Jacob (Bella) - Gah, can I vote neither? 😵
2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly) - who are these people?! 😕
3. Ross or Joey (Rachel) - don't really care 😕
4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw) - think she'll end up alone with a cat and a closet full of manolo blahniks 😉
5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie) - kind of liked her with Sam, actually 😳
6. Gale v. Peeta (Katpee) - fixed it for you 😀
7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly) 😕
8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Casablanca 😕

1. Team Edward v. Team Jacob (Bella)
NONE

2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly)
Kelly, I think? It's been too long...

3. Ross or Joey (Rachel)
Ross!

4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw)
I've never seen the show.

5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie)
Never seen the show.

6. Gale v. Peeta (Katniss)
PEENISS, definitely!

7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly)
I don't know what that is?

8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Casablanca
None, I hate that movie.

I took for granted that everyone would know these shows. Woops! Let me clarify. Although if you don't know the pairs you prob won't have an opinion.

1. Team Edward v. Team Jacob (Bella) - Twilight
2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly) - 90210 (The OG show)
3. Ross or Joey (Rachel) - Friends
4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw) - Sex and the City
5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie) - True Blood
6. Gale v. Peeta (Katniss) - Hunger Games
7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly) - Saved by the Bell
8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Casablanca

I must be really out of the loop, I only know 2 out of the 8!

Ugh, I hate both Edward and Jacob, talk about the worst love story ever written.

And I vote for Peeta out of him and Gale. I really didn't like Gale, he reminded me of Riley. He could be such an ass too.

My favorite short ship fic for Twilight (I'm sure finding it again would be like searching for a needle in a haystack, so I won't try again) was Jacob and Edward talking about how self-adsorbed and annoying Bella was...and I had to agree with them there. And then they decide to hell with her and the two men become lovers, and both going off into the sunset so they never have to see or hear Bella again. Gotta say I loved the subversion of Meyer's wet dream, and I laughed at the thought of school girls rioting like in Mean Girls as they read the fic and quickly spread it among themselves in outrage. 😀 So I guess that makes me Team Jakeward (not that care enough to keep up with it).

I like the Hunger Games a lot better, but can't say I'm really a fan. While I lean more to Peeta over Gale, they do make me wish a polyamorous threesome came about so that everyone is a winner (especially Katniss). 😛

Strangely, I did see Casablanca (I'm assuming this is the black and white movie) and remember enjoying it (about 17 years ago), but now can't remember that much about it, including about Rick and Victor. I seem mainly to recall the corruption and intrigues of the city, so I guess that was more interesting...

I don't recognize or recall any of the others.

Btw, there's a comprehensive chart of RWBY ships which I won't share as far as I know no one here is into that, but they have hilarious ship names! (I have to wonder if some of those ships are even real...but then have to assume yeah, there's no ship too insane for the internet.)

Dear GOD do I want to read this lol. Bella is the WORST.

You would think Peeta would be the Riley-er of the two. Gale is a rule breaker, a revolutionist. But maybe its the army boy thing? I could see that.

I was just exploring how insane the shipping gets. I found some that ship Jesus and Satan! 😱 Holy...I'd share, but that's probably way too offensive for some (the short one I just read was pornographic, too). I got a laugh out of it, and Satan is now tempting me to make sure the churches of the East Texas Bible Belt learn of it, but I'm sure I'll resist (probably to the disappointment of the authors). 🙄

Interesting how people see things differently! To me Peeta was always the soft spoken boy who was put in a horrible situation, and even more so than Katniss, he cannot adjust to it. He knows Katniss is stronger than he is, and he accepts it. He even fights to have her saved because he knows she has more to live for, and more people depend on her. That to me, is the complete opposite of Riley, who can't deal with Buffy being stronger than him, who always undermines Buffy, and who she is. Riley has a way of being hard on himself, but also putting the blame on Buffy. Sentences like "she doesn't love me", and this whole "hurt puppy" routine he does. Those are all things that I see Gale do. And then of course there is the military stuff. Both Gale and Riley completely misunderstand what Buffy and Katniss had to go through. I despised Gale's reaction to Katniss kissing Peeta in the game. I found it selfish and out of line.

Peeta is the exact opposite. He's supportive, but never accusatory. He only ever got mad when he realized Katniss lied to him, but even then he was more mad about the lack of friendship after what they had gone through. And he realized and accepts that he acted poorly, and goes on to fix it.

(side note: I'm actually a Joniss shipper -Johanna and Katniss- but I always really liked Peeta and Katniss' friendship/relationship in the books. I also view Katniss as asexual, or perhaps demisexual. So to me the relationship stuff was never really important anyway.)

I love Katniss/Peeta so much because I look at the overall story and the couple represents a lot of what I loved about THG's trilogy. It's very harsh but also hopeful. Peeta represents hope to Katniss from the first memory she has of him (the boy with the bread). He's an idealist. Losing his humanity is something that worries him more than dying, he thinks about the consequences of war, he's against making a capitol's hunger games, etc. That's why it's so important for her to keep him alive and also why turning him into a weapon was the most harmful thing that Snow could have done to hurt her.

I think that after the trauma that both went through, they ended being each other's strength and they really did survive because of each other.

I this quote represents the love triangle perfectly :

“That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”

I have a lot of feelings about this pairing, I find their story and what it represents beautiful.

Blaze: I also love that Peeta is the complete opposite of the typical male protagonist, his role is a role that would normally be given to a woman in books, and I really appreciate this representation coming from a man

Yess!! It's another reason why I really love this ship. And the fact that this is one of the things that Peeta gets hated for (seriously people calling him a wuss and weak and lame because a girl keeps rescuing him, etc.) makes me feel very protective of the character.

I usually don't fall for ships in young lit/movies books but this one has so much to offer. Every time I read the books, I discover new things and reasons to love them. This is such a well constructed love story because it's original and the way it's written is so interesting to analyze, it has a meaning within the story and beyond it.

Minority opinion but Mockingjay is my favorite book of the trilogy. It says so much about war, revolutions, propaganda, ptsd and life after destruction. It also brings up ethical problematic of the greater good and is very nuanced and realistic in the way both sides are presented as problematic.

It has an happy ending but it's not a happily ever after where everything is rainbows. The trauma is still there and they're just trying to live with it.

I also loved that line from the book, and also appreciated that he was the one being saved, and both are fine with it--making it more radical than I think BTVS ever was.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. One of the couple I do know and feel very sure about is Peeta and Katniss over Katniss and Gale. Peeta's story is just so much more moving and heroic. And while Gale and Katniss have a clear bond that is sweet, Peeta and Katniss had a true passion about them. And I am a big fan of a guy who will do everything for the girl he loves. And I agree with @Mylie that Peeta and Katniss is really the essence of what I loved about the trilogy.

lol I ok sorry guys maybe I'm old ? I'm 32. Idk but maybe throw out some other ones.

lol I just don't watch much TV, the two ships I knew were book ships :P
Well Barney Ted and Robin is a pretty recent one that caused a fair amount of conflict. I go with Barney and Robin because I never really liked Ted.
Also there is Harry Ron and Hermione. I ship Harry and Hermione myself and felt they were perfect from the beginning.

And Jackie, Hyde, and Kelso. Kelso always pissed me off and Jackie and Hyde were my favorite characters so that one is easy.

I actually liked the ending of HIMYM and like Ted and Robin.
As for, Harry/Hermione/Ron, I never saw them as a love triangle. Harry and Hermione have no romantic feelings for one another. I was happy when Ron and Hermione finally kissed in DH though.

I was also team Edward. He was my first vampire crush. It lasted a long time. I know better now...

The bolded : THIS!!! I never got shipping Harry/Hermione unless you have only seen the movies. It's very clear from the books that Harry only sees Hermione as a sister-type. He never once thinks of her in a romantic way.

Daniel and Emma do have chemistry in the movies though.

Perhaps it's been too long since I've read the books. But I think it's mostly because I find Hermione superior in every way to all the characters and think she deserves to end up with the hero. Having her with Ron just seems to diminish her.

I just don't understand how you can spend an entire show explaining how Ted met the mother and not have the show end with Ted meeting the mother. Not to mention all of season 9 building up to Barney and Robin's wedding only to have them divorced. It just bothers me.

It really bugged me when I first watched it too. They made the mother so perfect and I loved Robin and Barney together too. But I've kind of come to accept it. The whole story was really about Ted and Robin and how the timing isn't always right for two people. At the end of the series Ted has children, got married and had a really lovely life with them. Literally everything that was standing in their way of being a couple was gone. Plus even though I don't really like them much as a couple, I really liked the contrast between the first and the last episode. I would have loved it if they didn't drag out the wedding though. There were some amazing episodes in there but I would have much rather them focus on the Tracey and Ted more after meeting... And Barney... Ergh I swear his character development took a massive stepback. I wanted more for him..

Fool for Buffy
Fool for Buffy
Agreed on all accounts, except I'm waiting for the part where I become okay with it :)
1. I knew this was Twilight, but I've never seen it.
2. I had no idea who these people are.
3. Ross or Joey (Rachel) - Ross without a doubt. Joey and Rachel was horrible
4. Big v. Aiden (Carrie Bradshaw) - Big, though neither of them are anything to write home about
5. Team Eric v. Team Bill (Sookie) - Eric I guess
6. Gale v. Peeta (Katniss) - Nope, sorry
7. Zack v. Slater (Kelly) - Have never seen this
8. Rick v. Victor (Isla) - Rick of course

2. Kelly v. Brenda (Dylan) and for good measure Dylan v. Brandon (Kelly)

Dylan and Kelly FOR LIFE.

We can never speak again! 😛
Ugh, Dylan and Kelly made me drop that show like it was a dumpster fire.

Team Edward: because Jacob is an annoying kid. Edward is just annoying.
Team Brenda: Kelly can go to hell
Team Ross: The Joey thing was awkward and off-putting
Team Big: Aiden was the perfect guy, for someone else.
Team Eric: Because he's hot.
Team Peeta: I want to have his babies. I remember reading the second book and there's a scene when he's comforting one of the dying tributes as Katniss watches him and my friend and I were both like, this is just game over for any kind of triangle. He's the far superior man, end of story.
Team Zack: Slater and Jessie <3

Team Robin ends up with literally anyone else on the planet other than Ted:
I love Ted, he's probably my favorite character on HIMYM, but having him end up with Robin is gross. It reminds me of a joke from Big Bang Theory when Howard's being creepy and says that love isn't a race, but a marathon, that doesn't end until she falls into your arms or hits you with the pepper spray. Cause, right, we get ca 7 years of Robin saying "I don't want kids, I don't want to get married" and Ted going "all I want is to get married and have kids." Around season 8-9 Robin is like "I still don't want kids, but ok, I'll get married because I'm on love with Barney." Ted: "All I want is to get married and have kids with Robin, Robin, Robin, Robin. She says she doesn't love me, but all I want is Robin Robin Robin Robin, who cares how she feels? Move on? Or I could obsess some more about Robin." (Dear god, let him move on! Robin/Ted was dead and buried in season 3!)

Then, because she doesn't want to marry him or have kids with him, he finds a substitute. But gosh darn, what luck, she dies. Now he can have kids, AND Robin, good job cancer or whatever it was that killed the mom (sorry kids, she was just the means to an end). And again, what luck, by some odd chance Robin is pathetic, miserable and alone. Why would she be? Oh right, she HAS to be. Because only when she's feeling pathetic and lonely is she interested in Ted. Basically guys, don't give up, eventually she'll get tired and if you catch her on a bad day, you can get her! (Or murder her, whichever comes first)
But then, I've read Love in the time of cholera, stated as Ted's favorite book, I should have seen this end coming.
