Since we have a thread with articles about it, I figured it best to have an offical 'review' sort of thread where those that have seen it can talk about it.
Buffy Summers and myself saw this tonight, and it was good. From the trailer the little boy with the meeow scared the hell out of me but thats nothing compared to the movie.
It was the eyes, the visuals of the woman and the cute little boy (when he was pretending to be one) with the evil eyes. At first I thought it was annoying that they would cut the story back and forth between timelines but it helped explain it for me.
I've not actually sat through a horror movie that scared me like that, and I do believe I let out a little scream in the cinema. A few of the bits that got to me was where she was on the bus and all of a sudden the face was at the window! And lets not forget the jawless woman.
There was one bit that I thought was pretty amusing. The daughter of the old woman who lived in the house. When it came after her, what does she do, she jumps into bed and hides under the covers! Is it a case of being a kid again and thinking if I can't see you, you can't see me?
I did wonder why the cat noises were important. I saw the picture of the family and the little boy holding the cat so I figured he just loved his cat. Until the flashback where you see it all happening where the man is beating his wife, and what does he do...he picks up the cat and beats her with that!!! Poor kitty!
I have a feeling that i'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight as I have a large imagination. But the feeling I got from the others in the cinema is that they really liked it too (and were scared by it as you could hear people making noises as they jumped), and thats whats important.
