The Grudge: Member Review Thread (Will Contain Spoilers)

Yeah forgot to mention. One of my favourite things about the movie was the sense that even in our own homes we are not safe. And that was clear with the bed scene, loved it.

I agree! I still get kinda freaked out whenever I shower...don't really want some hand behind my head....

Lol! Know what ya mean bout the shower! The night I came home after seeing it, I was so scared in the shower! I thought something was either gonna come out of the back of my head, or that creepy kid was going to be behind the curtain!

I would say it was a bad movie from a film point of view, but as entertainment it was high class. It had my adrenaline pumping from scene one to the last scene and inbetween there wasn't a single scene where you got to rest your nerves. It's a scary movie and I got scared. However the scared feeling went away as soon as I left the theatre. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

I'm not really scared of my own house. i mean that happened far, far away in some Japanese house. So I figure as long as I stay away from Japan and Tokyo I'll be fine.

I"m recieving the torture from me friends. Because I'm the person that's the most jumpy-so they know they can get me. My friends Emily, Erica, Kiersten, and Zach went to see the movie with me (on my birthday no less) and afterwards we went back to my house. I was pertified. I was jumping at the littlest noises and I had all the lights on. But i went to get a drink and walked back into the living room-it was dead silent and completely dark. The scared the living crap out of me!
Zach still comes up behind me in class and do the little 'Ahhhhh' thing. But what's bad is, he can do it really well.

Also, I don't know why people keep comparing it to The Ring. I don't think it's alike. Whole differnet plot.

Everyone that saw The Grudge should see Ju-On too. That's great.

Jenny: I haven't seen this film and am not sure if I want to, as I hate scary movies. The annoying this is though I can read about them and get hooked but not see it.

You should see it! It's a good scary! And you've already read about all the scary bits! Just wait till it comes out on DVD, rent it..(or buy it!) and then watch it. When you get scared..just pop the DVD out and put it in the freezer where you'll be safe from it! 😀 😀 Oh and leave allll the lights on..and don't be alone..and don't go upstairs!

Re-watched the original the other night, just to see the differences. The Japanese one explains the curse a bit better. Towards the end when the girl goes into the house she confronts scary woman and realises during the film a lot of people have covered their face so she does and it and looks in the mirror and sees the scary woman. As far as I can tell it is suggesting she is part of you when you are cursed and then flashes back to scenes. The shower scene shows scary lady massaging the girls hand which explains why it was coming out of her head.

Ju-On is on my list of movies to watch. I can't wait until February to buy The Grudge and re-watch it! And of course, watch the special features!

I just watched The Grudge on DVD.It was alright. But I didn't get nightmares when I went to sleep.Maybe it was because I watched it around 4pm.Anyways, I found more news on The Grudge 2.

Quotes from moviehole.net

Shimizu has still got a Grudge

Takashi Shimizu, director of "The Grudge", will return to helm the sequel, says Variety.

Senator International, the Stateside operation of Senator Entertainment, has completed a management buyout and changed its name to Mandate Pictures. Mandate's Ghost House Pictures will handle the sequel.

No word on whether Sarah Michelle Gellar will return for the sequel or opt for the inevitable "Scooby Doo meets the Harlem Globetrotters" feature.

Whilst we're talking effects-driven scary stuff, Hollywood North Report have some great set pics from "Underworld 2" up. Lookin' good Becks.

Well I have Ju-On at home on tape to watch. Hopefully I'll be doing that this week. I'd love to see The Grudge 2, and of course I'd want SMG in it! 😀

It kind of sucks that SMG will have to choose which sequel she wants to do and she cant do both of them if she wants.

The first two Scooby Doo's were cute, but if Sarah wants to move her career forward, I don't think doing a third will be good for her...

I don't have the original grudge dvd.I have the grudge remake with SMG.

How do you have it already? It's not out yet.

Buffy Summers - oooh we'll have to discuss! Are you watching it soon? I hope to on Friday! 😀

I'm really anxious to compare it to The Grudge.

I saw Ju-On...honestly, I didn't love it. It just didn't have the same feeling to it, which surprised me, because I could have sworn that I would like the original better. Plus, maybe I'm dull, but I got a bit confused at some parts...

In chinese stores you can get dvds that aren't out yet. They download the movie and stuff, put it onto the blank dvd, make their own covers (sometimes they're the actual covers), and sell them.Half the dvds you buy are in bad condition, sometimes they are in good pic condition.

The Grudge is being released (legally) on DVD in the U.S. on February 1, 2005. It's available for pre-order at Amazon right now for $20.27 (and free shipping 🙂 )
