The Guardians

In the scene in End of Days where Buffy is talking to the Guardian and She asks Buffy her name, Why does the Guardian seem so surprised its Buffy? Is it just that She did not think it would be Buffy, Which kinda goes by there whole watching the Slayer thing if they knew Buffy was activated in 1996 and they weren't expecting her to live that long, then what they just stopped watching her the last couple of years...I just thought of something, its to go along with that whole buffy was not the active Slayer after she died in season 1 theory, Maybe she was not recognised as an active Slayer so the Guardians stopped watching her?

So yea any speculations about the Guardians, I wanna hear them?

I was under the impression that the Guardian did a 'double take' after Buffy said her name was Buffy, just because of the oddity of her name. Honesly, how many superheros would have the name Buffy?

I just took it as something funny, not in a serious, 'maybe she's not the slayer' kind of way. Watchers/Guardians should've known that Buffy was still activited as slayer. If a new slayer had been activated, they would've known, so I don't think it was because she was shocked that Buffy was still the slayer.

I had a feeling that she meant like what is your name beyond the superficial level of humanity. Like Buffy is the name your friends use, but you have a name that goes beyond that, perhaps the name of the Slayer in her... something along those lines... I never really understood why the Guardian woman asked it.
