Is there such a thing as a happy couple when it comes to tv?

I mean sure you got great loves and such, but really have there ever been a single happy couple that's stayed together and been allowed to be happy, even though they might have had problems, for more than like a season of televison?

Cause sure we've got great loves such as Bangel and we've got....hm, Rachel and Ross (Friends), but they're not really lasting, they just get brief moments. Is that because if they were allowed to stay together it would just get to boring to watch or are the writers just a bunch of sadists that likes to see us hurt?

if everyone stayed together and had a nice normal relationship, it'd get boring pretty quick...even though i HATE it when they break people up like that!!
there have been a few couples that have stayed together for more than a season...Monica and Chandler were together on-screen for more than 5 years without a single bust-up, and ...ok, so maybe i can only think of one!
but Ross and Rachel got together in the end, as did Joey and Pacey, so i guess it makes the waiting worth while!

I think many pieces of fiction conciously focus on the "unhappy couples" because it's a great source of emotional drama.

Anyway, I don't watch it, but supposedly Leo and Piper have been together forever on Charmed.

Sandy and Kirsten on The OC 😀 Gotta love them. And yeah, as mentioned, Monica and Chandler. And so far Aly's character and that guy of her's on HIMYM (I know there haven't been that many episodes yet but I'm guessing they are one of those couples).
Other than that I can't really think of any.

I have to admit, the Rachel/Ross arguements were perhaps better than some of their lovey moments, but it does feel right that they ended up together. Was watching the episode the other day where Rachel and Emma move back in with Joey because Ross and Rachel were unhappy with seeing each other with other people. Great arguement.

But yeah, happy couples = dull normally. I never really found Chandler and Monica dull and I think the writers tried their hardest to make sure we did. So S5 was sneaking around, S6 was moving in, S7 was being engaged, S8 was being married, S9 kind of trying for a baby/Chandler moving away for work and S10 having a baby. I think if they were just a happily married couple for S8 and 9 then it would have gotten kind of dull.

Although I liked Willow and Tara together, they were really good. Buffy/Angel also had good fights, but Willow and Tara we're perfect.

I thought Cole and Pheobe "were" a happy couple... Leo and Piper are denfintly a happy couple and so was Willow and Tara!!!!

but yeah you dont really see any happy couples that their love lasts forever because they move on your their partner has died

sandy and Kirsten had their problems.
Happy couples dont make good TV so they stick as much drama in as possible to keep people watching. Cos the more upset you are about the couple in trouble, the more you watch hoping they'll fix it.

I have to admit, the Rachel/Ross arguements were perhaps better than some of their lovey moments

Oh, man. Happy is only bearable for a couple of episodes. So much better when there's conflict. My favorite Friends moment ever is when Ross is reading a love letter from Rachel and he's correcting her spelling and grammar as he reads it. Totally petty and mean, and funny as hell.

In Friends there was never funnier moments the when the words....WE WERE ON A BREAK...came from the mouth of Ross....

But there is one of the greatest Happy Couples of ALL time, from one of the greatest sitcoms ever made....

Dr Niles Crane and Daphne Moon(Crane when wed)

Was musing over this topic and I came to the conclusion; we wish to see on television what we don't want to experience. After having a rather dramatic summer I learnt that yes I love drama on TV, but I'd rather not live it.

And yeah, forgot abotu Daphne and Niles.

I agree with everyone and have been racking my brain trying to think of happy, lasting couples. Here's what I got, and please, tell me if I'm wrong:

Hmmmm, what about Rebecca and Jesse from Full House? Fred and Wilma Flinstone, or Barney and Betty Rubble? Annie and Eric Camden? Xena and Gabriel (except for the fact that Xena died at the end, so it would kinda cancel them out...)? That's all I got for now.

Lets just say i have certain pictures that suggest a less than pleasant marital life of Wilma and Fred, and Barney and Betty.......i'm shamed by the fact that these couples above all, couldn't remain faithful.....but to top that...Dino and Betty.....for shame...FOR SHAME

I have seen certain images that show a less then savoury side to the Flintsone/Rubble relationship.......lets just say that the 'Swinging' they do isnt on a swing....well except for that one picture but thats just too unpleasant to remember

Ohhhhhh, well, I'm glad my innocent eyes haven't seen 'said' pictures. I can remain almost blissfully ignorant in my own little world where they have completely wholesome relationships...

😀 jk. That is hilarious. But I don't want to know what kind of site you were on when you saw this pictures....It was a website right?
