LOL - So, it's a little bit chilly in Canada then 😉...when I was last in Ontario it was 30°C plus - we don't get those kind of weather extremes on our temperate little island (something to do with the Gulf Stream I think)killerdwarf said:

Yeah, we get the extremes. Last summer it was 33C and with humidex it was close to 40C. Combine that with a -30C with windchill and the span is 70 degrees! Sunburn to frostbite in six months...but I really do love living here!

I hope you're not a Leafs fan but DARN RIGHT hell will freeze over before the Leafs win the Stanley Cup!!!!!
Let's see, it was -45 C which is -49 F , and we have 4 freaking feet of snow. It's been falling for the last 25 hours...we only got 25 cms accumulation though.
So well honestly I'd take a little of the blazing heat right now!

Something I always thought was interesting, that you guys reminded me about, was that -40 degrees is the same temperature in both Centigrade (Celsius) and Fahrenheit scales. I'm glad it never happens here - it sounds bloody cold!
Alyson - I'm pretty sure it's a Canadian ice-hockey thing. The Stanley Cup is the major competition and the Maple Leafs (Leaves!?) are a team (Toronto?)
Please tell us more about how hot Australia is - we could do with it in the UK and those Canadians sound v. cold indeed...

It's freezing here in bonny scotland!
We had the worst day ever yesterday... from freezing rain to hale stones to Snow! Then the sun came out... then it started snowing again... and the thing that made it so cold was the gale!

For all you non-canucks: The Stanley Cup is the trophy awarded to the winner of the National Hockey League's playoff round. It is the oldest trophy awarded to professional sports teams in North America, being well over 100 years old. It stands Approx. 1.3m tall and is made of sterling silver. The winning team's captain receives the trophy from the league's president immediately at the end of the final game, and the captain and the rest of the team do victory laps around the rink, cup hoisted over their heads (everyone gets a chance to carry it). The Toronto Maple Leafs have not won the cup since 1967, and only the Chicago Black Hawks have gone longer without winning it. The cup is taken on tour across North America every year, first by the membrs of the winning team, who each get it for a day or two, then it is taken on a tour to make appearances to raise money for charity...there is actually a guy who is the "Keeper of the Cup", whose sole job is to transport and mind the cup when it is not in the Hockey Hall of Fame, located in Toronto (ironic, eh??🙂)

Even when they stunk as a team and were in last place they sold out their arena...and now that they are actually contending, the hype is just amazing. People with seasons' tickets leave them to their children in their wills, and getting a ticket to any particular game is virtually impossible.

Its kinda cold where I am in California. It rained for like the last 5 days but its hardly ever cold here so i'm kinda loving it, all except for the being cold part.
