The Highwaywomen

The journey home from was ok, until they were about halfway back. On a lonely track getting near to a town, having just reached the crest of a hill, two Highwaymen left the cover of the shadows. Blocking the track, aiming their pistols at them. Darla drew the horses to a standstill.
"Stand and deliver! Your money or your life!"
Darla heard the words clearly, several times as the echo repeated from the hills. Looking to Drusilla. "Are they serious?"
"Think so," said Drusilla, "And they are both women, I think."
"Excuse me Mr highwaymen," Darla looked to Drusilla, "Or Mrs highwaywomen, are you being serious?"
"What?" They looked to Darla. "Of course we are, and if you ladies do not get down I will shoot you. I'll put a big hole in the front of your pretty dress."
Darla looked down at her dress, then to Drusilla.
"I like this dress, I want to wear it next week," stated Darla.
"So you get a big hole in your dress, you can always get another made," said Drusilla.
"Well, I don't want to, so just get down," replied Darla.
"At last," said one of the highwaywomen, "Some common sense. You have got to be the most awkward people we have ever robbed. Oh, and just so that you know. The hole in your dress, that will also be a big hole in you so there will be no doing anything next week. You will be dead."
A thumping was heard from inside the stage coach. "Oi, you up top, what we stopped for?" shouted Spike.
Darla and Drusilla had just got to the ground, as Spike stepped out the coach.
"I'm not bothered about being shot, it's the mess that'll be made of my dress," said Darla.
"What did we stop for?" asked Spike.
Drusilla pointed behind her. Spike looked at the people on the horses. "What do you want?"
"Stand and deliver, your money or your life," they shouted.
Spike quickly looked around.
"Can I practise some of my existentialism theories?" asked Drusilla.
Spike looked at her, surprised. "Never figured you as one for existentialist thought love. Did I just hear several of her around us?" "No, that was her echo," said Darla, "Or it could have been both of them."
"Who are they?" he asked. "Dunno, they haven't said."
"Who are you?" asked Spike.
"I saw a sign back there warning people of the Sierra Leone's," said Darla.
"Neither of them look like a Leone," said Drusilla.
"Ok, so one is Sierra, what about the other?" asked Spike, "That echo you said about Darla, why don't we call the other one Echo."
Drusilla looked, seeing both of them pointing their pistols towards Darla. "Shooting at us with those things won't kill us," stated Drusilla.
"Don't forget about my dress?" exclaimed Darla, "One shot from those things will really bugger it up, and I can't exactly go back and ask for another dress, the same as this one can I?"
"Why not?" asked Spike.
"I can hardly hold it up and tell them that the big hole in the front was when I was shot."
"Oh sod this." A highwaywoman shot Darla. She lay on the ground, the blood flowing freely from her stomach. Surprised, Spike and Drusilla looked at her.
"Is she dead?" asked Drusilla.
"No, but I think her dress has seen better days," said Spike
"Er hello, remember me?" asked Echo, "If you are concerned about her being dead, how about seeing if she has a pulse?"
"And what good will that do?" asked Drusilla, "She didn't have a pulse yesterday, so the chances are that she won't have one now."
"What? If she was alive yesterday, then she would have had a pulse," said a highway-woman.
"See, that is it, she wasn't alive yesterday," said Spike.
"That's a point. We are talking now, so we must be alive," said Drusilla.
"Yeah, you listen to her," said a highwaywoman.
"But we have no pulse, so we cannot be alive. We must be dead," stated Spike.
"So we've got no pulse, yet we are alive. I know, how about we are un-dead?" asked Drusilla.
"Un-dead? Yes, I can live with that," stated Spike.
"But you just agreed that you are un-dead," said a highwaywoman, "So obviously you are not alive, so you cannot live with it? Can you?" Echo leant back in the saddle, folding her arms, she looked to Sierra. "Did I just say that?"
"Excuse me, can someone help me up?" asked Darla.
The highwaywomen quickly got off their horses. Looking to the shadows. "Who said that?"
Drusilla pointed to Darla. "She did." Spike helped Darla to her feet.
"I'm so glad you are alive," said Drusilla.
"No, she is not alive," said Spike.
"Too right, I'm dead," stated Darla.
"Oh god no, not again. We've just been through this, she's un-dead," said a highwaywoman.
"What's going on here?" asked Darla.
Drusilla looked to Darla then a highwaywoman. "We were just talking, that's all."
"Well stop talking, and quickly!" exclaimed Darla, "The rotten sod just shot me, look at this hole in my dress!" She flew to Echo, knocking her onto the ground. About to rip a hole in her neck.
"Hey, hey, hang on just a minute, we were talking to her. Besides you don't want to drink her, wouldn't an Echo keep repeating on you?" asked Drusilla.
"That's an echo, not Echo," said Darla.
Darla looked to Drusilla. "You keep talking to her then."
"I can't, I've forgotten what we were talking about, Spike?"
"Me to," said Spike.
"So you don't mind if I kill her?" asked Darla.
"Go for it," they said.
Darla flew to her, pushing her into the ground again. About to sink her teeth into Echo's neck. "Oh sod it! I don't want to the moods gone."
The highwaywomen, confused about the situation, looked to each other. Sierra spoke to them. "Let me see if I have got this right. The three of you, you are all the un-dead? That's vampires, right?"
"Yes."
"Don't you mind, "˜cos if they catch you they'll kill you," she said.
"So? You are a highwaywoman, if they catch you, they'll kill you. A public hanging then a burial. If they do that to us, all we'll get is a couple of days rest," said Darla.
