The houses? What's the deal?

Ok, i've seen alot of members with house names under their usernames.

What are these houses and what do they mean?

The houses are basically little private sects of the board for the people who get sorted into them. No one else can see the house except the people in it.

It's a neat little perk of this section of the boards. Houses are generally for a random group of people to hang out and chill and do their own activities aside from the main board and and bunch of other stuff. It helps new people get to know board members better and it's just a good time all around.

If you want to get sorted, you can go to the Sorting Tome. It's all random, so you can't ask to be in a house, you just get put in one.

PS: Merrick rules. Just sayin'.

The houses are kind of like the Harry Potter houses. It's a smaller, more intimate group of members who have been randomly sorted into one of the houses. This promotes friendships and group cohesion. It's also fun because there's inter-house competitions, and houses may have their own internal games or events. We in Merrick just had our prom, for example, which is why a bunch of us are sporting buttons like mine. Each house has its own private sub-forum in the "School of Demon-Hunters" forum. If you want to join a house, go to the School forum and post a request to be sorted with the Sorting Tome. 🙂

Just a fun feature of the board, if you go to the Sorting Tome thread and ask to be sorted, you are randomly placed in one of the 4 Houses were you have the choice of taking part in little activities to win house points.

Like Harry Potter but with a lower angsty teenager ratio.

In the Buffy Boards School of Slayers and Demon Hunters you will find four dormitories:

Vahla Ha'nesh, Raiden, Drogyn, and Merrick.

Each private forum is for its dorm members only. It's a great way to get to know other members of the board and make friends. After being sorted, you can participate in dorm activities and from time to time there will even be challenges which pit dorm against dorm. Points are awarded to the winners and participants in these competitions, which go towards a running tally for each dorm.

Once a year the winner of the House Cup is announced, for the dorm which has won the most points in the previous year.

I apologize for everyone promoting their houses. Mostly because not all of them were from Drogyn 😉

But the house system is cool, we have friendly compititons between the houses, called the House Cup, so as soon as your sorted make sure to check that out!

I agree with Black Eye Guy, it is absolutely terrible how THEY keep promoting THEIR houses, it isn't the house that's important. It is the people in the house and let's face it, we are all nice people in Drogyn house, and that's no bull.

Technically if its about the people in the house than any house that you get into NightBird will be great because almost everyone on BB is amazing... but if its about house pride and if its about what the better house is then that would still be Merrick 😀 we even have a cool monkey that mocks all other houses with his cute little pants!
