So I just read that Josh Hutcherson has been cast as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth as Gale and Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. Im totally disappointed with Peetas pick since I was on the Alex Pettyfer bandwagon. Oh well. Fingers crossed...

I'm hugely relieved it wasn't Alex Pettyfer as Peeta. I know a lot of fandom wanted Hunter Parrish, and I could have seen that.

I really don't have any clue who Josh Hutcherson is, but I can see him being Peeta - I'm just hoping he has the acting chops to take on the role.

Gale I don't particularly care about, LOL.

Katniss - I think Jennifer Lawrence will do a good job. She's an Oscar nominated actress and from what I've seen of her work - I think she'll be good.

I'm not worried about appearances etc. too much, they can do wonders with hair dye and make-up.

Now the main three are done... I want the rest of the cast announced - Prim, Haymitch, Cinna etc.

I'm okay with Katniss. I never really had an actress in mind for her so I can see this chick working okay. Gale's alright. I'm gonna have to jump on the not-impressed-with-Peeta bandwagon though. I was really hoping for Hunter Parrish. I dunno about his acting but looks-wise he was pretty much perfectly how I pictured Peeta. This guy looks nothing like I pictured him in the slightest.

I suppose only time will tell if they turn out to be good or not!

Not that excited about the casting, to be honest. I haven't seen any of the actors in anything else, so I can't judge their acting skill quite yet. But JH is not how I pictured Peeta at all. And he looks like JL's younger brother, which doesn't bode well for the romance. Liam I guess is alright for Gale... not quite how I pictured him but OK. Jenifer I've heard is good. Still kinda bummed at Kaya Scoledario not being Katniss, she was who I pictured throughout the book.

I saw Josh Hutcherson in The Vampires Assistant (Cirque du Freak) and he just seems incredibly juvenille to me.

Josh Hutcherson looks so young!!!! I don't know if it is just my picture, but i want to squeeze his cheeks, pat him on the head, feed him a cookie, and send him off to play with Momiji from Fruits Basket.

Yeah, just my picture. I pulled up another one and now he looks rather attractive, though not at all like Peeta in my mind. Actually, none of the cast fit my image... but hey, if they are the best actors for the roles, I won't judge.

Until I see the movie and yell at the screen for messing up the books, tee hee. :X3:

I agree with you guys - they are nothing like what I imagined!

I'm a bit apprehensive about the movie, but I have my fingers crossed that these guys will do a good job and it will be awesome 🙂

Lionsgate's Hunger Games movie has found Katniss' younger sister, Primrose Everdeen.


Newcomer Willow Shields (In Plain Sight) has landed the role, nicknamed Prim in the books, the studio announced Wednesday. The actress joins Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale.

Prim plays a pivotal role in the first book of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy that leads to Katniss' harrowing ways.

In addition, four tributes have been cast: Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin will play District 1's Marvel and Glimmer, and Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg will portray District 11's Thresh and Rue.

Elizabeth Banks is also in talks to join the Gary Ross-directed project as Katniss' handler Effie Trinket.

Hunger Games will be produced by Nina Jacobson and Color Force. It will be released on the big screen March 23, 2012.

Shields can be seen in the upcoming CBS telefilm Beyond the Blackboard, airing Sunday.
