What i mean is do you have a story that may be interesting or funny or something?

So for me it was late at night... the first time i watched it was after i bought the box set, and so because my mum doesn't like Buffy (i know...) i had to wait until she went to bed to watch it. So it was about 1am or something and i put it on. I did not expect it to be so freaky! I mean the Window scene, my gosh! So anyway... im watching, nicely drinking my cup of coffee when the window bit happens... i jump about a mile high spilling the coffee all over me and scolding my lap, also i screamed (not a mans scream either... it was all high pitched and loud and banshee like) (or what i imagine a banshee to scream like... ive never experienced one before). So my mum woke up, came downstairs... im on the floor burning from the coffee and looking like i've had an accident and shes all startled and stuff.
Looking back i guess its quite funny... and some people might think i'm a wimp or whatever (which i am i will gladly admit), but thats my Hush Experience!

Anyone else got an interesting one?

Oh and also i was afraid to look out of the window at night for about a week after. I think its the smiles and the eerie floatyness of them... Urgh! makes me shiver thinking about it!

I'm so sorry, but the mental image of that whole story made me giggle out loud! I hope you weren't burned too badly with the spillage, but LOL... 😉

In high school, my best guy friend and I were HUGE Buffy addicts and every Tuesday night we had viewing parties. In college, I completely got my roommate hooked, so she watched it with me and I nearly died laughing when she jumped and hit her head on the top bunk when she first saw the Gentlemen. 😉 Her hair got stuck in the springs and she was laughing and crying at the same time 'cause I was too busy watching that first death scene to help her get it unstuck. 😉
 
i think i remember rushing home after a dentists appointment and switching on and been instantly freaked out by the start with that little girl singing the gentlemen are coming by yikes, anything to do with kids or chants creeps me out, either way i loved it, then when it ended my friend rang and said " i think willows kinda gay" so i quickly rewatched thinking nahh shes wrong, but she was right dammit lol oh and i also remember been in school the next day and my friend and i cracking each other up by doing anyas lil naughty gesture to xander all day
 
I must say, watching Hush I could only think "Man, I have to read Alice in Wonderland again!" Couldn't help it but it reminded me so much of Lewis Carroll meets Dalà­ and maybe some Magritte (floating men anyone?) during a bad LSD-trip. But in a good way. It was a marvellous and freaky episode, but I don't find it very scary, just an artistic masterpiece.

I know it's not an experience but I just wanted to share. Maybe I'm gonna induce a hush experience soon, if I can get my hands on some illegal drugs ^^ (just kiddin 😛)
 
just finished watching "Hush" for the 1st time.


I honestly couldn't find one thing wrong with this episode, it was flawless. Heard this was nominated for an Emmy, the year it aired and it was well deserved.

The Gentleman were creepy as hell, especially the way they floated around Sunnydale looking for victims. Many great scenes, but my fave was the chase scene with Willow and Tara.

I was actually screaming RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN at my tv set.

It was a great episode, but it isn't one that I would watch over and over again.
They had a creative plot and the costumes were pretty neat.
 
I don't really have a good story for this episode. I was at school getting ready for work one monday morning and I decided to watch it. Though it freaked me out, I found it so funny because of all the misunderstandings that happened in the episode (like Spike and Xander's misunderstanding at Gile's house), that I was smiling the whole time I was at work. I usually never smile at work when I have to get up at 6 to go in! It was a good way to start to the day.

Anyway, great episode! It is a total blue print for why Buffy and Riley's relationship was going to fail. The lact of communication on their part was key. Riley not understanding, at first, that he should smash the box not the jars. Neither of them could speck at the end of the episode. That silence to me said a lot about how that relationship was going to turn out. Meanwhile Tara and Willow where talking about the experience at the end happily.
 
For me, "Hush" is about all of the cool moments, and how they are very-well structured into a cohesive whole. Favorites:

1. The little girl's singing
2. The Gentlemen floating through the town
3. Buffy's hand-jerking in the "war room", without a pencil and then with a pencil
4. Willow and Tara holding hands and "making magic together"
5. Buffy's scream upon the spell being broken, and sunlight shining into the dark room. Riley's expression adds great texture to moment.
 
Great episode, I jumped out of my seat when one of the gentlemen appeared before the window Olivia was was look out.

I haven't been able to watch that scene since i was a kid. Because of that one scene I am now terrified of clowns and all things I call, "False happiness", meaning anything that smiles with now happiness in the eyes. So, of course, Nightmares is a hard to watch ep for me 😀

That was sooo fun, i had bunk beds and i was on the top single bunk and rach was on the bottom double bed with her, so when we were laying in bed me and rach just started singing it and at the end of the song rach jumped on her as i made the curtains fly open!
She was sooooo scared, but it was soooo funny. Afterwards we ended up telling ghost stories and watching more Buffy which is always a good thing (sw).

That's about the only thing that really gives me nightmares... well, out of movies and TV anyways. Ehhhk, now I wish I didn't come look at this thread.

"Hush" was one of the few times Buffy scared me to the point of flinching or jumping or whatever. It was the window scene, and I was watching it alone in my room at night. There was a terrible thunderstorm, and lighting struck just as--okay I'm lying, but it was night, and I was scared.
 
You know, I've always had trouble convincing my friends about how great Buffy is as a TV show. They always just see the monsters as guys-in-rubber-suits, the teen angst and they go and label the series in the same trash category as Hercules or Xena.

I routinely protest; citing the world of Sunnydale as a rich playground for imaginative storytelling and inventive high-concept ideas, the brilliantly developed characterisation, they way each episode reads like a script writing masterclass and the endless amounts of laugh-out-loud 'Buffy Moments' as proof that the series really is one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

We all have TV shows that we want to get friends and/or partners interested in, and to do so, we have in our minds certain episodes that we'd insist they should watch. Episodes that showcase that series. Episodes that might make them hooked they way we are.

Hush is one such episode. Taking a superb horror concept, terrifying villains and building it around Buffy's trademark action and humor. It's almost as perfect as TV can get. Although rooted in the plot arcs of the season, it can still be appreciated as it's own self-contained story that puts most modern horror movies to shame. A little grim fairytale.

If I can ever convince my friends to watch just one episode, I'll probably make it Hush.
 
Buffy never scared me. I was raised on horror movies so it takes a lot to get to me. I thought this episode was pure genius though! Who would think to have an hour long show where 90% of the show nobody could speak? And to convey a whole story that way-this is one of those episodes that totally blew me away. I loved it! My kids love it too-guess they got my non-scare-ability. I have a good friend who scares really easily (the puppet episode in season 1 freaks her out) and she's just in season 2, so I'm waiting to see what this episode does to her-bet it freaks her out.
 
Story? Did you know, it's not a real fairytale? Do you know how long it takes to find out something ISN'T a fairytale???
