The I HATE Thread

Okay so I know we are asking allot, being nice on the internet can be hard.

We're all nameless, faceless people so I don't know about you, but I can find it difficult being nice all the time.

So this is the small section of the boards were those rules do not apply.

There are some rules, you are not allowed to vent big long essays, we just post saying the things we hate, the things that drive you crazy, so if it's Bieber or Twilight let you feelings run free!!

It can also be quite therapeutic to let it out.

so I'll start:

I'm not sure this sits well with me. I liked the "Be Nice" week, because for people who did find it a struggle, they'd have to put an effort in to being kind about things they wouldn't necessarily otherwise be.

I also find it strange that we're not allowed to use the word "HATE", but can use it here. It just seems odd.

It just seems to negate the whole point of the week, in my opinion. Anyone that would have put effort into being nice about something can instead come here and say what they hate.

I get the whole "well if you don't like it don't post here", but I just wanted to share my opinion and see if anyone else perhaps felt similarly.

I agree. I think negativity can spread very fast and a risk with a thread like this is that people activly starts to think about what they hate. I kinda did when I read the OT... :/

I agree that it's healthy to talk about dark feelings, but if this is just a place where we state things we dislike and don't have any longer space to talk about it (refering to the "no essay"-bit) how's that going to be any good? I'm skeptical right now. Can we please know more about the thought process behind the creation of a thread like this? 🙂

Hmm I'm kind of confused..."hate" and "love" are just words which can become fairly arbitrary if we take away their meaning. Saying "love" when it's very clear that you're temporarily substituting it for the word "hate" can be just as offensive, no?

You know, I'm really not sure why we try anymore.

We do something, to be a bit of fun, and we get comments like we've seen in this thread.

It really stops being worth it after a while.

All this was, was a thread to show that you can't use the word "hate" on the board, and isn't it funny that it now says love instead of hate. Jeeze. I guess asking people to have a week of kindness was asking too much.

Well I think this thread is cute. To me, it's more a perspective thing. WE know it's a censor... but when you first read it it doesn't look like it.

I'm truly sorry if you and the other mods felt this way about my comment on the post too. I thought it was a little out if place to have a thread like that and I tried to give you my point of view on it in a respectful way and ask why you decided to have it so I could understand more. I was a little slow to the joke though (I usually am 😀) since I didn't try it. Maybe I should have, but I'm a pretty naive person that falls for jokes all the time. 🙂 And if you took the post litteraly I think it's a good thing that it was questioned, it shows that we want this week to be all about the love. 🙂 anyway, after understanding the true meaning I think it was a cute way of showing off a cute feature. I really appriciate the time and effort that are being put in to this, and I'm sure the other people that was skeptical to the idea does too. :heart:
