C'mon Riley-haters, I defy you to say that that scene is NOT hot!! I love the way they interspersed the sex scene with the fight scene.

And my hatred for the Maggie Walsh character grows....😡

And we're introduced to Adam, who is my least favorite Big Bad. He just bugs the crap out of me.

Oh, and real stealthy of all the Initiative guys + Buffy to not have their pagers on vibrate.

Favorite quote- Willow: "Those things usually taste kind of tasteless, then leave a bad aftertastelessness." Although I do like the spanking references too, heh-heh.

That scene is definitely hot! And I don't hate Riley. The fight scene between it is almost annoying. 😀 But still, this is not a good episode, IMO.

LOL! I read a review of Doomed about the scene where Riley & Buffy are kissing on the bed and his hand goes up her shirt then Willow walks in. The reviewer said that "young men (and some women) everywhere wanted to murder Willow at that point".

Lol, good to know. And I think it's in "A New Man"? Also, the fans got to see loads of things in Where The Wild Things Are anyway. :P
Ew... that scene is NOT hot, lol. Riley looks gross... and it looks awkward. Especially Buffy.

Bleh. I guess I'm the only one 😛

Yeah, you're the only one. 😉

Ooh, you're right, it is A New Man. And yeah, no lack of Briley sex in season 4 for folks to either enjoy or barf at.

Lol, Killow sex scene is the only thing to barf at, IMO. 😛

Esp with that tongue piercing!

Wait, the barf-worthy thing in The I In Team is Mackie Walsh watching them!

Eww, I know. Did I mention how much I hate that character? How many times has she told him "Make me proud, Riley". Weird, creepy mother-perv vibe.

Huh? - Walsh gives her the $20k prototype camthing on a her bogus 'getting beaten to a pulp by raccoons' mission - the one she wasn't allowed to pick up??

i liked the "what do you want to do now?" line after the fight but it would have been funnier if it had switched back to the scoobies at that point.

not a fave of mine - it sort of leaves a bad aftertastelessness ... that is almost, but not quite, reprieved by the final scene.

I figured something out. It's been said (by Riley, by whoever) that Buffy never loved Riley. Riley knows that. So they had sex (many times, I suppose), but if it wasn't out of love, it was just sex. And sorry for pulling this Spuffy bit as a compiration, but thought it fits here somehow, and this is how (Bangel/Spuffy/Briley debate trigger, sorry): Some say, could be Spuffies, could be Bangels, doesn't matter, that in season 6 Buffy and Spike didn't make love, they're the word I can't write here. And clearly Buffy having sex with Angel in s2 was out of love, it was love making. Now, if Buffy had never loved Riley for real, you can say the same thing here as you say about S6 Spuffy sex. If you put the whole Spike usage thing aside. Spike wasn't the first man Buffy had sex with not out of love. I think that's one of the reasons Bangels are against Spuffy sex (or Spuffy at all if they think their relationship is all about sex). Buffy used to have sex with guys not out of love before Spike. Not sure about Parker though, so I leave him out of this one.

I'm not quite sure what you figured out but ..

there's a lot of tenderness in this .. erm .. episode. I find it easier to contrast Riley sex with Spike sex than compare them. there are different urges at work i think. Sex with Spike comes from a desperate unconscious need to feel alive in the midst of a profound disorientation, sex with Riley came from an optimistic heart reawakening after the end of Buffy's 'first love' relationship.
So i would say sex with Riley was 'love-making' that never got finished. If that isn't abusing the metaphor. It felt to both of them that love was possible. It just didn't work out that way.

But even though it COULD happen in their future, at the time they were together and done this, they WEREN'T in love. I do believe Riley loved Buffy, but she didn't love him. I didn't compare the Spuffy and Briley relationships in the sense of "why they did it" or what drove them to that. I'm saying, Buffy slept with Spike not out of love (again, doesn't matter the reason, I'm focusing on the act itself), and with Riley the same. Of course (I believe) Buffy loved Spike afterwards, but at the time, she got into bed with Spike and Riley not out of love, not love making. So with Spike it wasn't the first time, after we thought of Buffy as someone who's the kind of girl who makes love (before we got to watch her grow up in later seasons), Buffy wasn't the kind of girl who just gets together with guys, she makes love, not sex. That's how she was presented in early seasons. She slept with her first love, because she loved him. That wasn't about sex. People overlook that, and see only the Spuffy sex as something Buffy shouldn't do, or isn't supposed to do, but she had sex not out of love before Spike-with Riley. That was my realization.

I´m a little surprised that anyone would think that scenes with Buffy and Riley are hot. 😉 To me it looks weird, Buffy is so skinny and small and he so tall and stuff, looks like Buffy's gonna brake or something. I didn't think it was hot, because Briley wasn't hot.

But I like this episode, love it when Buffy ask a bunch questions to Dr Angleman.
The scene at the end when they try to remove tha tracker device from Spike, and Willow ionizes the air or whatever 😀 their hair haha, too bad you didn't get to see what happened to Spikes hair, most likely stayed the way it was.

About Spike, I was thinking the same thing
I love that scene haha as you can see 🙂

I get ya! ( and thought i'd replied already - sorry). I see it differently, perhaps, because i watched the seasons in quick succession, so it was all a bit of a rollercoaster.
