The Initiative on Angel?

I was just watching the Angel Episode "Why We Fight" (from Season 5) which is REALLY funny, but anyway I was watching it and you know that scene where the government guys first break into Angel's Apartment? One of the Government guys says to Angel: "I represent a relatively new agency, Demon Research Initiative? And we think that you might be the solution to our little problem." and later the German Guy said: "Something about stimulation and... control. They've been experimenting on them... and cutting into their brains." about the vampires.

Did anyone else notice this? It sounds like Spike and Angel were two of the first "hostiles" the Initiative ever used (if that really was THE Initiative).

Anyone have any thoughts in this?

Yep, that's exactly what I thought when I first saw that ep...perhaps it explains Spike's designation as Hostile 17 - quite a low number for an organisation fighting "hostiles" in Sunnydale 🙂

Maybe they designated numbers in terms of looks, I know I would.

But yeah I think they are meant to be The Initiative.

Oh yes I'm absolutely sure that's what they were getting at. That the Initiative was THAT old.

It makes sense that the Initiative would have started in the forties. That's when the CIA was created and right after the major expansion of the federal beaurocracy in Franklin Roosevelt's first term.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the episode, I like how things like that come back up later on. I always thought they could do a whole lot more with The Intiative and it's origins. And as BTVS season 7 proves, they are stilla around, so I guess there are more stories to be told.
