It was better than I thought it was. That whole monologue thing with Rachel talking about the victim was weird though.

Yeah that was funny.
I was a bit surprised. I thought this first one was a lot better than what Mike Ausiello led us to expect. Then again Ausiello is a gossip columnist what does he know about spooky shows. And yeah, The Inside gave me some genuine creeps and spooks.
Those grossout scenes weren't that bad. I've seen worse on CSI. Why were those 2 or 3 critics zeroing in on that to bash at? It wasn't that big a thing.
And poor Rachel Nichols. Whey were the Biancos and such all picking on her? Is it, because they'll never get within 50 feet of such a magnificent creature. OK, acting-wise, she's not Paltrow, but she's OK. What's the problem. And the supporting cast is so good they'll carry her. She was kind of hot when she went undercover.
I like the way these agents have character, as opposed to the 2 dimensional guys that populate stuff like the CSI's, and the Law and Orders.
I think the thing I like the best about this right now though, is there's all that stuff buried in the background, like why did Web choose these particular agents for his crew? Was it for their strengths or their weaknesses? Who abducted Locke? Will they be going after him?

I forgot to say how much this reminds me of the pilot for Fearless from a couple years ago. Whole girl with a past thing.
If it builds up some gigantic arc"”more than just "girl/victim with a tortured past" that's gradually revealed"”this could get good. Like, if they completely upend our expectations about what she really is...I don't know...X-Files had a pretty good formula with the arc eps interspersed with the stand-alones. It reminds me of Millenium too somewhat.

On the other thread Goldenboy was mentioning Peter Coyote and Dark humour. I must concur.
The Peter Coyote character, Webster, is intriguing; possibly wicked, and a little mysterious. I think it's all these little mysteries in the characters they'll go into when they finally find the series arc. I remember in Wonderfalls they didn't really find the main story of the series until the 4th episode. Come do think of it Minear's season's on Angel usually started with stand-alones too, didn't they?
And yeah. I also like dark humour. Some critic idiot was dissing them for it, but I don't know. I don't think I'm the only one that likes that kind of stuff.

I watched it last night, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a little iffy on the main character, Rebecca, but I couldn't get enough of everyone else. I loved the premise, and I loved last night's storyline. And yes, I did notice that guy wearing the Wolfram jacket. All in all, as a pilot, I'd give it four stars out of five. I'll be an avid watcher.

I've only watched it once so far, but I heard there are other references. There's supposed to be a hotel called the Hyperion, and when the agents dawn the blue gloves it supposedly references the blue-gloved bad guys of Firefly.
The ratings are out. There about what you'd expect from a premiere Fox didn't promote -

First eppie, awesome! I loved Adam Baldwin's character, and the little tug-o'-war between Rebecca and the characters played by Jay Harrington and Peter Coyote is very interesting-I loved the last 5 minutes the best.
I gotta say-girl with no skin on her face or her hand...I didn't sleep too well that night...have I ever told you guys that I have a weird fear of skeletons? Well, there you have it.
