yeah, i saw that on the news today.

sometimes scientists believe they can do anything. im thankful for all they do, but if they have devised something that could destroy the whole world, then i dont want any part of it.

i guess im a little nervous.

I had to pick up my nephew from school today. As I was taking him to my house he was telling me(he's a bit of a spastic really, most of the time I don't have a clue what he's talking about) about this black hole that's going to arrive tomorrow and destroy the whole world.

If we're not all dead tomorrow I will apologise to him for calling him a brainless 'tard and tellng him to only speak to me when spoken to.. lol
 
Somehow im not really bothered at all by this. As if there ever gonna be able to create a 'black hole'. whatever, maybe it'll just blow them up.

I'm well freaked out now, black holes?? everybodys gonna die?? I'm going to get a goodnights sleep. I don't need this, I am majorly freaked out!! I should have lived today like it was my last day, what a waste.
 
they would have to set the darn thing off while my parents and their best firends are in France right near by...TYPICAL!
 
I think you guys are too scared, nothing bad will happen. Worse that can happen is that it blows up and the billions used are wasted.
 
They are not trying to create a blackhole and every scientist in the world except one British Academy says that such a thing is not possible.

Also today (an hour ago) was just a test run and we're all safe.

The big collision test will take place October 21st.

Sure, i am still present. Estonia seems to have survived from looks of it. Anyone from France to report casualties?

Well they switched it on and I'm still here. I know it's safe because Steven Hawking told me so on this morning's news...waddya mean, coulda been an old film of him and someone else using a robot voice changer...😉
Actually, the main collision experiments don't start for a while, so the end of the world might still be nigh...

Oh, it already has happened? I read it a while ago and I know it was on the 10th... but didn't know the hour. I hope I won't die, since I read here something about this was just a test. But I also read this thing in newsarticle about timeholes, I hope that will happen, imagine, travelling in the time wooooow. I'd go to 2005 to see the last concert of Nightwish with Tarja 😀.
 
Oh for goodness sake how gullable are you people?

The LHC would never have ended the world principally since the collisions it creates are still not as high powered as the ones caused by cosmic rays striking the atmosphere every day.

Since thats been happening for oh, say 3-4 billion years, every second, I doubt lower powered collisions in a secure containment vessel pose a threat to the flies in the same room.

The Singularities it creates are so small as to never be able to survive, they pop out of existence instantly. The gravitational field they exhibit wouldn't even reach much further than the containment walls of the chamber. FYI a real full sized Black Hole would take months to cross the Solar System to arrive at Earth by which time the tidal forces of its accretion disc would already have flayed the atmosphere away.

You're worrying for nothing.
