In 'Showtime' i think it was. Xander tell the SITS that a new Library is to be opening May 2003. The show ends in May, so do you think this will have something to do with the Season finale of Buffy???
 
Dunno, I must say that I missed this, but it might have something to do with it, maybe they are going to use it for a great big fightinh scene!

I have to admit I was thinking the same thing. It would certainly hark back to Joss' comment about going back to the beginning for this series. The show started out in a library and might well end in a library too.
 
I also was suspicious of that library statement.

Libraries seem to have some kind of hidden significance in Buffyology.

For instance have you noticed the statements made in libraries concerning irony. Irony is a recurring theme in Buffy.

I suspect some kind of grand irony to end the series.
 
And if the library does have some sort of significance to the ending, do you think it'll look practically the same as it did from Season 1-3? That's something I'd love to see because that'd really be going back to the beginning. Plus, it was always my favorite place to see the Scoobies, and since Xander's the one redoing the library...:: tu ::
 
I just thought it was strange, because on Buffy, they dont really mention an event that wont be seen in the episodes.
 
Maybe they'll defeat the first in the library......... maybe blow it up again.

Now that would be ironic.
 
I think Xander also said something about "if construction stays on schedule", which leaves everyone the option to use it or not, depending on the story arc.
 
Didn't Buffy kill the uber-vamp (Turak-han or whatever it's called) in the still-under-construction new library area?
 
There's a lot happening in and around libraries this season.

1. Principal's office built over site of old library

2. The First confronts Willow at the University library as Cassie Newton.

Cassie (paraphrased): Kind of ironic--I wrote all those poems about death and dying, then I come back to life in a library.

3. The library at the Watcher's council destroyed.

4. New library going up. Xander building it. Buffy dusts Ooby on the site of it's construction.
 
that must of been a small temporary one to store the majoroty of the books in while the new huge library was beeing built. or just a class full of books?!

I believe UC stands for University of California, so I'm guessing it would be the Sunnydale College branch of the University of California.

The library mentioned in Showtime is the one under contruction Xander talks about here:

36 EXT. CONSTRUCTION SITE - NIGHT
The crew is following Xander around the site to a big open area.

Yeah sorry about that. I wasn't finished editing. It goes like this;

The library in Help was the Sunnydale high library.

The library in CWDP was the UC Sunnydale library.

The library in Showtime was the new Sunnydale public library under construction.
