I mean, um, Kakistos. In the first episode Giles says that the Master is the oldest vampire on record, then in 'Faith, Hope, and Trick' (I believe) he says that Kakistos is so old that his hands and feet are cloven.
If the Master is older, wouldn't he be more physically beast-like than Kakistos?
Or is Kakistos older?

Maybe Kakistos wasn't on record when he said that about The Master. Or Maybe because they dont know his exact age they dont count Kakistos.
 
But if Kakistos had been on record after the Harvest and before Season 3, wouldn't Buffy have been made aware of him and sought him out?
 
I just looked this up:
About the Master :"Due to his extremely advanced age, the Master possessed superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes far beyond those of common vampires, even those as old as The Prince of Lies or Kakistos."

That leads me to beleive the Master is older.

As to Buffy no seeking him out, I dunno. She dosn't usually seek anyone out until they make their presence known in Sunnydale I find.
 
oh. I haven't seen anything past season 1 of angel, I'm waiting to buy the rest of the series before i watch them all.

I think the Masters older. Kakistos dusted like a normal vamp but the Masters bones didn't dust, probably coz he's much older.

The physical bestiality of The Master, Kakistos, and Nosforatu might be due to the demons animating their bodies than their actual age. If those three demons were of a much older strain or breed, they might be far more dominant over their human host, thus their physical features would be much more extreme than their more modern counterparts.

OR, maybe those three vampires are the last surviving examples of vampires from a time before vampires developed the ability to alter their features in order to better circulate among their prey. That would also explain why they never "humaned out," but stayed in their demon form at all times. They COULDN"T look human.

Either way, Nosferatu, Kakistos, and the Master looked the way that they did because they were the last of the original breed of vampire, the first generation of vampire that was the result of the pure demons who mated with humans to create the vampires and other assorted critters that Buffy and her friends fought.

I have wondered this exact same thing.
 
The Master should have been brought back he was only in 1 season of Buffy.

Not enough information giving about him in the series.
 
I always thought both The Master and Kakistos old age was making them turn back to somekind of animal forms. A bat for The Master and a goat for Kakistos. I wonder if that would also happen for vampires like Angel and Spike, haha =P
