Maybe im the only one confused by this but why is it when a vamp dies they all go to dust and leave nothing but ash, yet when the master was staked at the end of season 1 that his bones remained fully intact? His skin and organs went but his skellington remained. Why?
 
cos he was a very very old vampire.v.v. powerful ,hence bones instead of ash
 
I guess cause he was like all powerful...or he was really old.

All special vampires such as The Master and Dracula (from the season five premiere) are unique from the rest. That's why when The Master was slayed, his bones didn't turn to dust and when Buffy staked Dracula more than once, he just kept coming back!
 
I always assumed because he was bigger and better that deaths would be different, never really thought about it too much.
