According to 'The Watcher's Guide' the Master's real name was Heinrich Joseph Nest. I don't know if this is common knowledge that i somehow missed when watching the show, but I thought I'd make a post about it since it's an interesting little tidbit. (At least I think so anyway, but my idea of interesting probably isn't the same as most people's 😉 )

That is interesting, do we even know much about the master before he was a vampire? Like how he was changed or anything?

Hmm, I don't think so. I did a little research and his name was never mentioned in the show, but was written in the script.

I think he makes a much more formidable villain if we know little about him though.

hmm yeah i suppose, i'd never really wondered much about the master till now, so i suppose he's a much better big bad if we don't know much about him.

I hadn't heard that (about his name). I'd always thought of The Master as the oldest vampire around (they do say that a few times on the show), but then later on we meet Kakitost (I know I butchered the spelling on that name) in S3 and the Prince of Lies in Angel S5, so I'm not really sure.

I would absolutely love a Buffyverse Encyclopedia (kind of like those ones Marvel and DC are always publishing for superheroes). Just one huge companion book that goes through all the characters throughout the both Buffy and Angel. Getting to learn a bit more about The Master would be awesome.

I think it's interesting! 🙂

Then again, I liked The Master, and actually thought he was a decent baddie. He had that campy sarcasm thing going on, and I found him amusing if not terrifying.

But I also love the first season, so...maybe I'm in the minority. 😀
