I was just wondering what was the mayors plan after he became a demon, I mean he spent a hundred years preparing the ascension, but then what, I mean a demon that big would have eventually attracted the wrong kind of attention and been eliminated, so what was his reason?

That's a good question, and one i don't think thw creators thought about because they were planning on having it killed before it got to that stage. But thinking about it i wonder what would of happened if he had succeeded,i'm guessing he wouldn't have lasted long before he got killed.probably by something of the military kind.

Well I'm guessing it was to rule? I mean he would have been a pure demon, so he could kick all the other demons assi (plual of ass acording to cordy 🙂) and then rule over the world, feeding on humans.

Assi! LOL
Ok yea that was probably his plan, but he was a big demon and it wouldn't take long until attention got called onto himself and someone would come up with a plan to destroy him.

Heh yea that's a good question, wsa he going to be that super demon forever? I guess so, but that couldn't be much fun.. hm.. and hard to clean..

i just dont get where faith was gonna come into it if he was a massive demon for the rest of his life...

He obviously had serious mental issues if he wanted to be some overgrown snake thing. Ew.

This is another one of those cases where the scripts don't offer an answer so you have to write your own. How about something like this.

We know the Mayor lived a life which was unnaturally long. He watched his wife grow old and die. In Tales of the Slayers - which may be canon - it was the Mayor who built Sunnydale around the turn of the 20th century.

We can postulate the Mayor struck one of those "live forever" deals with a demon, or demons. Eternity is a long time to live. 🙂 It's not a stretch to suggest he was growing "bored with the whole mortal coil thing". He'd dealt with demons. He'd looked over to the other side. Perhaps he saw demon existence as a superior way to spend eternity.

But why a snake? We don't know that form was the last he would choose. In the comic Fray - and this one most likely is canon - there is a creature which appears in a form not unlike the one the Mayor chose. It may, or may not be the same demon. I can't remember the names. Nevertheless we can suggest both may have had similar power, because of their similar form. The power of the Worm/Snake in Fray is to break down the walls between dimensions, so the demons can walk freely through it. Perhaps the Mayor's larger plan was to rule not only over humans, but a demon army as well.

The demon the Mayor transformed into was called Olvikan I think. Excellent theory by the way.

Or maybe, just maybe, he actually just really liked snakes!:silly:

Or maybe the snake form was eat people and destroy sunnydale, even so i never got it, either i just assumed he had a severe case of maglamainia...
