The mention tags

I can't make the mention tags work 🙁
I write (or copy) the name of the one I want to mention and then select it and go to the mention icon... but it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Help!

[MENTION=12490]NightLady[/MENTION], I think you just but the @ in front of the persons name. I tend not to use it so we'll see if it works!

Are you using the name of the user exactly as it's spelled, surrounded by the tag

So
[MENTION=12490]NightLady[/MENTION] works

The first one looks like this (without the *)
[*MENTION]NightLady[*/MENTION]

Or as nightshade said, just put @ in front of the users name

I did used to know the answer to this but its slipped from my brain, how do you do mentions for people with spaces in their names? I tried underscores but that didnt work either.

As far as I remember, the @ Username doesn't work with spaces, but if you use the full code [*MENTION] username [*/MENTION] (no *'s) it will:

[MENTION=5973]Black Eye Guy[/MENTION]
[MENTION=5973]Black Eye Guy[/MENTION]

No I lie, both work, lol. I dont think we've had that issue since we brought in mentions, so I dont think it's an issue anymore.
