One of the things I LOVE about Buffy is the fact that it's a one big metaphor with all of the little metaphors all around. Some of the metaphors I recognized. And I'm sure every person who watches the show picks up stuff like this, from many scenes. So I thought we should mention all those metaphors in BtVS, because I don't think we all recognize all of them.
I'll start, ones I could remember right now.

* The boyfriend that you love so much becomes a monster after you sleep with him.
* High school is on the hell mouth/high school is hell you need to survive.
* Demons that represent our inner demons.
* Spike having trouble performing (the scene when he tries to bite Willow)
* Everything is the end of the world for a teenaged girl, but with Buffy it literally is. (not sure if that counts as a metaphor though).

Once I actually went through every episode to find a metaphore. AP World History with a crazy teacher who gave us wrong information of everything=best class to perfect Buffy skills. I can name all the episodes in order, too!
So for Season 1...

Welcome to the Hellmouth: the new girl just can't fit in (a bit weak, I know).

The Harvest: It's the end of the world if you don't go out tonight.

The Witch: My mother trying to relive her life through me! She's controlling me!

Teacher's Pet: Teachers who hit on students are creepy predators who prey on the innocent.

Never Kill A Boy on the First Date: ...didn't actually get one for this. It was pretty straight forward.

The Pack: cliques are like a pack of wild animals, waiting to prey on the weak.

Angel: we can't be together; we're so different it's like we're two different species!

I, Robot... You Jane: the internet is dangerous and you should be careful because there are some demons out there who are only using you.

The Puppet Show: another one I couldn't find anything for.

Nightmares: um... the whole episode?

Our of Mind, Out of Sight: No one pays attention to me! I'm pretty much invisible!

Prophecy Girl: If I go to this dance, I'll die! (I know it's a stretch)
