Anybody remember this 90's comedy show?
I've been sporadically watching it for several years, but this summer when I had nothing to do I watched the entire show, finally, and really loved it!
Is it me or is it really one of THE funniest things out there?

Well, the reason why I started this thread is because I know of at least one other person on these Boards who seriously likes the show...so I thought I'd check if there's any others...

I love how the show is like sending your brain on vacation and only leaving laughter!

I just watched The Nanny last Friday! I love this show, it's so funny and witty (even in the German dub). I've never seen it the whole way through but still have seen almost every episode x)

I love The Nanny! One of my favourite shows ever. I can watch it 90 times. It's still on television here.

Same in Germany, I think they show like 4 episodes a day right now (though 2 are just the repeats from the previous day). And that already speaks for itself, imo. In all the years I've watched the show (which is now at least 7 years, possibly more), I can't remember a time it wasn't on TV in Germany. Either Vox or Super RTL constantly showed it. They do that with hardly any shows in Germany, really, so for me that means that obviously I'm not the only one who never gets tired of this show.

And aren't the remarks Niles and CC make to each other THE best? :lmao:

I haven't it in ages! It was very funny, her voice doesn't annoy me as much as I though it was first time I saw it.

I also remember really liking the opening credits!

OMG yaay, love this show Fran is just one of the funniest people ever and so likable, plus you got to love Niles and CC. I remember one of the best ever was when her and Val moved in together and the one they went away and there was a tornado :lmao:

Haha to the tornado one...I have this image in my head now with Fran standing in the wind with cocktails in her hands
never saw it, i don't think so.

What is it about? except the obvious.

🙂

It's about a nanny :nibble6:

Well, kidding aside, here's the full story concept.

A Jewish woman (Fran Fine) gets dumped by her boyfriend and looses her job, so, as a new job, she goes from house to house selling makeup. In that one rich household in Manhatten they are looking for a nanny, and she sort of just 'applies' for the job on the spot and out of more or less desperation gets it. And that's how she becomes the nanny for the three children, Maggie, Brighton and Gracie, of a hot widowed broadway producer, Mr. Sheffield. Also frequently in the house are the butler Niles and Mr. Sheffield's business associate CC. A lot of the funny happens out of the interactions going on there, and later in the show there are many recurring themes: the mean comments between Niles and CC, Fran's Mom being over at the Sheffiled's house all the time and eating their food, Fran trying to get a marriage proposal out of Mr. Sheffield, Frans annoying voice and so on. It's really a fun show!

But I suck at summarizing anything, so in case you still feel very unclear about the show, better visit the wiki page, The Nanny

I don't think that summary is sucky at all! :)
It seems like I used to watch the show all the time, but I haven't seen a whole episode in quite a while. My sister has been watching it lately though on Nick and Nite. The opening credits were pretty good.... I miss those kinds of 90s sitcom opening credits!

I used to really enjoy the Nanny. I watch it on Nick at Nite now sometimes when it's really late at night and I can't sleep. Fran Fine is always good for a laugh.

I used to love The Nanny - I used to love the guy who played Max when he was in Days of our Lives 🙂 Also, interesting side note, the chick who played Riley's wife Sam had a guest roll in The Nanny as a rock singer who made Fran her muse. Funny stuff

Ivana Milicevic

To add to the post above... she is also in the Movie Head Over Heels with Freddie Prinze Jr. where she plays a Supermodel lol 😉

I knew she looked familiar! I just couldn't place her, once again. Actually, it has happened before with the exact same actress when she had a guest spot on Friends...she looked vaguely familiar but Icouldn't say in what way.

But The Nanny had some awesome guest stars in general! Like, some really famous ones, and lots of them!

I've been watching The Nanny for years and still watch the occassional episode when I happen to run in to it. I love that show! I can't believe there's actually a thread for this, because I'm always embarrased to mention that I'm a The Nanny fan. So great that I'm not alone, LOL!

I loved this show! Its really cheap to buy on dvd in my country at the moment, around $12 or $15. I must get a couple of seasons.

My favourite was Niles and CC. Niles had all the best lines.
