I really hope this is good and that he continues his habit of casting actors he's worked with before, I'd love to see Alexis Denisof in a meaty role, and I am kind of fond of Tom Lenk because of his funny dress on a budget things he does, he could definitely do a Victorian woman out of some toilet roll and a couple of doilies and save the costume department a fortune.

I few years from now Joss will be saying that HBO didn't allow his artistic genius to work freely, leading to the show's demise, mark my words.

I have been waiting for this. I loved all of the shows that Joss ran, though I never got into Agents of SHIELD, because I am not a Marvel fan, but that's more Jed's show anyway.

Dollhouse. Where he said the network backed away from the sexual content of the show.

But generally, I think, Joss will be just fine at HBO. They will have their in-put, just like FOX, but he does no longer have to adhere to broadcast standards and will be freer in his storytelling. No motorcycle chases to cater to a broadcast network.

An HBO show could be huge for most of them.

I think he will probably mainly go for new actors in the lead roles and have Whedonverse actors pop up in smaller roles or guest parts.

It would be really cool if he cast Olivia Williams, who was fantastic on Dollhouse.

Amy Acker of course would also always be a joy, but she is kinda busy with The Gifted.

Generally, I'd also be excited if he cast more character actors and actors over the age of 40.

Eh, I'd rather have no Whedonverse actors showing up. Once people talked about all the old familiar faces I started to lose interest. Or at least ones not so ingrained in people's mind. Keep ED and JM far away from it... and certainly no AH.

I know you weren't the one bringing up the original point, but he's not wrong. However, he probably should have realized that a major broadcast company like Fox is obviously going to be hesitant to get too sexual. Dollhouse was really meant for somewhere like FX or AMC.

Olivia Williams is so f***ing amazing. Dollhouse has such a ridiculously talented stable of actors, and yet somehow Williams was always a standout in every episode.

You're a weird one. I can see why you wouldn't want Dushku (although I like her well enough), but Marsters, and the rest that you mentioned are all solid and likable actors. Why are you so anti?

For TV actors yeah, but I expect a little more coming from HBO.

1837 to 1901. So yes, the Civil War was during that period.

Since it's science-fiction, I assume it will be a more modernised version, but who knows what's in Joss's head at this point. Would be interesting to see him work in a historic setting, we have not really seen him do this before, aside from maybe the flashbacks on Angel.

Alyson Hannigan is now going to be a voice actress on "Fancy Nancy", a Disney series. I'm fine with that. I also don't have a problem with the reduce / reuse / recycle of actors (I bet Tom Lenk shows up) but new faces would be better.

Three series canceled before the allotted seasons they were promised, a movie that was promised which never materialized and failure to greenlight his last two proposals. I don't know if I would give Milch as an example of the 'benevolence' of HBO.

Then of course they also "demanded" that Daniel Knauf kill off what would have been a major character in order to continue his series and then went ahead and canceled it anyway.

I didn't say benevolence. Deadwood, while it is one of my favourite shows of all time, lost a lot of money and I am amazed they greenlit John from Cincinnati at all (I hated that show). In any case, it's ratings weren't good (although improving) and Luck's ratings were the worst of all. All I meant was you get a good (arguably the best) creative platform to do something with HBO. It's no guarantee whether it will work out or not. But Milch has worked for HBO on and off for nearly 15 years. He doesn't seem too annoyed.

Yeah, I have no confidence in AT&T. I understand why they want to change things (they think more content, more money, more prestige) but it is just a horrible idea.

Showtime definitely has/has had quality shows. Netflix too. AMC used to, now they mostly have Better Call Saul as the flag-bearer. It'll probably depend on the quality of the Game of Thrones prequels.

I didn't see season 2 of TD. Just a clip of Rachel McAdams awkwardly dirty talking. Looked weird.
