I had never heard of this until recently I saw an interview with an able bodied 50 year old transsexual woman who goes around in a wheelchair because she said ever since she was a young boy she had wanted to have been born a female paralysed from the waist down.
I wonder if they would be so eager to be disabled if they didn't live in a society that takes care of the disabled (and not even to the extent that it should sometimes). If they lived in, say, the middle ages, in which such a person might have to beg on the street, it might not be so appealing.

Oh, I've never tried to hide my real name. I am who I am. With a name like mine no one remembers it after 3 1/2 minutes anyway, and if they do it's usually nowhere near correct!
It's true, even when you know real names of people you do, or I do at least, still think of them by their username.
