Assuming that there was a need for such a group today, who would you choose for a new League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The only conditions to membership are that they have to be modern fictional characters, and no costumed superheroes allowed.
 
Are we talking characters from film, books or television?
All of the League were, of course, literary characters but then they had the comic book and the movie so I guess we're looking for 'modern classics' right?

I'd have to think about it.

Any fictional characters, as long as they are 20/21st Century contemporaries, with no costumed superheroes. For example:

Cordell Walker (TV)
Adam Pierson (Methos) (TV) (This one may be a cheat, since he is 5000 ears old)
Dirk Pitt (Books)
Bob Lee Swagger (Books)
Faith Lehane (TV)
Michael Weston (TV)
Frank Moses (Movies)
Lucas Hood (TV)

The Hacker: Lisbeth Salander (from 'Millenium' book trilogy plus 'Girl With Dragon Tattoo' by David Fincher)
The Soldier: Jack Reacher
The Ex-Con: Faith Lehane
The Detective: (Bendict Cumberbatch's modern) Sherlock Holmes
The Spy: Micheal Weston
The Cowboy: Raylan Givens (Justified)
 
- Though not optimal choices, I'm admittedly biased based on the entertainment I enjoy.
- I tried to stay away from Marvel/DC
- Picked characters from different series
- Stayed away ridiculously powerful figures for his or her role. (Ex: Illyria as a fighter)
- I'm going with the same amount of people from the movie:

leader/tactician: Nilklaus Michaelson ('Originals', tv series. Can also count as from 'The Vampire Dairies' tv series as that's where he debuted.)
fighter: Rollo, ('Vikings', tv series]
Ranged support: Bellamy Blake ('The 100', tv series)
Person who gets equipment & teaches others to use the stuff: Datak Tarr (Defiance, tv series)
Spy/surveillance: Bronn ('Game of Thrones'', tv series)
Medic: Dr. Lauren ('Lost Girl', tv series)

P.S. Cool topic, and I implore others to watch the shows I listed the characters from if you enjoy fantasy or sci-fi.
