Metal fans rejoice! Metallica's ninth studio album 'Death Magnetic' officially comes out next week, September 12th worldwide. And having heard some of the new tunes on the Metallica website, I can tell you that it's going to kick an amazing amount of ass. Anyone else looking forward to it?

My best friend says that it sounds like this album is gonna be less commercial and more like their first three albums with the big songs and great solos.
Don't know about that 'cause I haven't heard it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, really long solos and all the songs are seven to eight minutes. It really reminds me of Ride The Lightning to listen to.
I've heard the single, and I'm just glad that it's distinctly NOT "St. Anger." I was SO disappointed by "St. Anger." I'm not the biggest Metallica fan in the world (I think that honor goes to my hubby), but I'm still happy about the sound of the one song I have heard and I'm glad my hubby will have a new batch of Metallica to blare through his car speakers.

I started listen to it today. I´ve been looking forward to it. Now I had to turn it off pretty fast. Not because it was bad. Don´t you dare think that. I just wasn´t in the right mood. I´ll give it another try tomorrow.

I hear you about St. Anger, but I wasn't too keen on load or re-load either. I liked the black album and everything before.

I'm glad to hear they are getting back to the doing music Han style - as in Solo(s) *tips hat to Barney and HIMYM*

I'm looking forward to this album.

Kirk Hammett is the reason I started to play guitar and St.Anger, load and reload did not have a whole lot of Kirk on them.

Another Kirk fan! The first time I ever heard One, I immediately sat down and learned it all the way through, now all my solos in my own band are Kirk-ish in nature. Probably the best metal lead player on the planet!
I wasn't crazy about the new single, to be honest. I thought it was kind of generic-sounding (that might be because generic metal today consists mostly of people trying their hardest to sound like old-school Metallica...I don't know.) As far as what you guys are saying about it being like their first 3 albums, it seems like James Hetfield's voice has changed and matured so much that I'm not even sure if they could replicate their Kill 'Em All/Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets/...And Justice For All sound, even if they wanted to. Then again, I might just be paranoid because of how bad the new Motley Crue CD turned out to be.

I'm still getting the new album, though...that's not even a question 😀

Arrrrgh, don't tell me that about the Motley Crue CD! I'm dying to get it!
Yeah... I heard that they'll have new album, I'm not really a listener but I'll try listen this cd, once. But I'm more exited to the new album of The Rasmus.

Metallica aren't my favourite band but they're somewhere in the top 20 so I'll probably end up buying it anyway.

I must admit, i've downloaded it. BUT before you judge me, i've already ordered the 'Death if coffin' box, normal CD, and LP version of album. I think this is better album than Black Album, best MetallicA since ...AJFO. And Kirk is quite good nowdays, but he surely isn't the best anymore. I think Unforgiven III is best song of unforgiven series, i really love this song. But i must say, first time i listened whole album, i liked megadeths new album more. But it will take some time to listen whole album very well. So i can't really judge whole album yet

Well if you a Metallica fan, i've heard a few tracks by a band called 'black tide'.

They are like early Metallica, i'm not saying that they are they new Metallica as those 'the new' statements are stupid, even more so when the 'old' are still going.

Is it just me, or is Metal making a comeback, and can I just say HALLELUJAH? I'm not crazy about Metallica's new single, but I'll give the CD a try.....mainly because I can't NOT have a Metallica CD. It doesn't compute....I'm looking forward to hearing the balance of it, the new single notwithstanding.

Blondie Bear
I've heard that's the most MELLOW track on the CD.

I SO love him!!!!
if u ask me rick rubin saved them

i bought the album yesterday, and it reeeally surpised me cuz i couldnt really belive metallica could do something like this again, two things i like speacially:
first that all the songs get a blastin' solo form kirk
and second that progressive aftertaste that some songs have
i really am enjoying listening to it

I like Metallica's first five albums, but whether the new one is a return to form or not, I won't be buying it because those guys are horrible human beings and they don't deserve or need my money.

true, but you can always download it;P
I didn't buy the album, but one of my housemates downoaded it (a) It's sounds ffing amazing! I saw them play Cyanide live on Pukkelpop festival in August and I liked it, but its not even the best song, imo. I'm glad they've gone all back to basics. When (If?) I have money I'm gonna buy it, for sure. They are legends, and apart from the fact that they now all drink herbal teas instead of whiskey and do yoga (Q magazine ^^) they've really returned to their pre-black album selves. More or less.
