The new NHL season.

Well the new NHL season gets underway soon but not soon enough.

So who out there are hockey fans and who do you support?

I'm a Devils fan and have been since 01 when I stumbled onto a NHL game and loved the jersey.

I know thats an odd reason to support a team but i'm English so I don't have a local NHL team.

Oh and Scott Stevens is my all time fav player.

I'm a Canucks fan, I guess. I'm getting irritated with them though. They did nothing significant to improve the team since they stunk out the place last season.

Oh well. Here we go again, I guess.

And,truth to tell,why shouldn't you be?

Detroit didn't have too many holes to fill...and those they did have were filled very well. So well that I would not be surprised to see the Wings hoist Lord Stanley's Cup again next June.

I root for Buffalo-and there is some hope for optimism here. The Sabres kinda put the kibosh on the "yeah,we're a bunch of cheap bastards who won't keep key players" mentality when they re-upped goalie Ryan Miller to a long contract extension to start in the 2009-10 season,and they got a tough defenseman who could be captain material(or at least provide the team with veteran leadership on the ice and in the locker room). Beyond that,it's the same core of young-uns with an extra year of experience. I won't lie...it'll be a struggle to make the playoffs. If they do,they can wreak some serious damage. (And most of the Northeast Division either stayed the same or got worse.)

n4h: It could be worse. You could be rooting for the Maple Pinch-A-Loaves...ERRRR,Leafs. Think the 'Nucks were bad in the offseason? Toronto was worse. Signing no one of consequence....giving Jeff Finger loads of money when he hasn't really earned it(and giving me the opportunity to make many bad "Pull my Finger" puns")....where do I start?

It all started with Stevie Y. Continued with Sergei Fedorov and Nicklas Lidström (and I have the tradingcards to prove it. 😉). As a swede (Go Homer!!) these days I´m not complaining too much since we finally won SC again. 😀 For obvious reason I´m looking forward to a new season.

My friend supported them who introduced me to Hockey and it just kinda ended up that I supported them.

Theres a lot of red wing fans here. And I'm proud to say I'm not one of them. Pens fan, have been all my life, the whole new home town pride thing. But I'm not sure how well we are going to due, we had a lot of losses this season. Mainly the ones I'm upset about are Hossa, Malone, and Roberts. We lost Malone and Roberts so we could afford Hossa, but then he went and signed with the wings. When we first made the trade I knew he was going to be a temporary player, but Hossa going to Detroit is kind of nails in the coffin.
Can't wait for the season.

Don't sweat it too much,Wes. The Pens should do well for themselves(and will probably win the Atlantic Division again),even with all the players they lost. Malone's loss is probably going to hurt the most. (And,if memory serves,they gave up even more of their future to get Hossa in the first place.)

You still have Crosby & Malkin. And as long as you do,Pittsburgh will be taken seriously.
