The New Slayer

Okay, I'm no expert on the Buffyverse, but the way I understand it is that if a girl has the potential to be a Slayer, than she is a potential Slayer. It only makes sense. The girls staying with Buffy were not all of the potentials. There were still more out there, like the girls seen being activated during Buffy's speech. If every girl had the potential, every single female in the Buffyverse would have gained Slayer powers. Willow, Fred, even Harmony would now be "chosen." Girls become potentials when they become teenagers, and if they are past their prime when it's time for a new slayer, they will be overlooked and a more young, fit girl will be the next slayer. But the spell in "Chosen" activated the dormant powers in every one of the potentials, which is why some of the women may be older. There may be some 80 year old women out there whose dormant powers were released, giving her extra abilities. It really doesn't matter the age anymore.
Newborns wil most likely only gain their abilities in their adolescence, however.

But then again, I'm no expert....

You have basically everything right but they dont become potential slayers when they become teenagers, its basically when they are born. Kendra's parents knew that she was a potential slayer when she was very young and Kendra was sent away from her family to live with her watcher to train and study.

Thanks, but what I'm saying is that their powers probably don't kick in until their adolescence. I mean, I can't imagine a five year old with slayer powers.

PS Does anyone know how exactly a potential is identified? I haven't seen most of S7.

I think that it is just anygirl with the potential to be a slayer, obviously, not all of them will be. As the clip showed, there was one woman in her 20's/30's who was chosen, as well as a girl of about 10-12.

Off topic, I know.... But did anyone else notice that Tom Lenk was included in the list of additional actors? Andrew!!! Yay!!!

Is the new Slayer only going to be in one episode or made into a main character or reoccuring role?

and if they are past their prime when it's time for a new slayer, they will be overlooked and a more young, fit girl will be the next slayer.

How do you know that this is certain?

I don't. This is all just theory. But all the Slayers we saw on Buffy were young women.

Ok, that's good. I kinda want my Slayers away from my Vampires. LoL.

Wait, you guys are saying that the new Slayer looks old (which I do think too, LoL). But look at Nikki Wood? How old was she?

yeah, nikkie was old too...speacially the first actress that performed her...older than the second one

well,..maybe she was young when she was called....perhaps she just lived too much

I wasnt saying the potentials in S7 were the only ones, but they're apparent job of finding all slayers failed. Plus Buffy said "This is where you have a choice to be a Slayer" (well kinda paraphrased) but technically the other girls didn't have a choice.

Im nitpicking I know, I dont mean the show any offense. Andrew in the cast is intresting, maybe this new Slayer will be after Angel. Willow has sensed this and sent Andrew to tell her.

How old was Kennedy? I remember in the basement the potentials were talking and Kennedy says "no, the younger the better. thats why i think its to late for me". Does that mean she was old? I think she had to be 18 or older, because if her and Willow had sex, people probably would have screamed sagatory rape and make a big deal out of it. Anyway, maybe with lots of make-up they will make her look younger, they can do that.

Glad to see that a slayer will be on Angel. I wish that it could be SMG, but I'll take what I can get. hehe😀 😀 I hope that she will kick just as much butt as Buffy.😎

Agree with Eternal Darkness. Good to see at least one slayer on Angel. Good to see continuity.

????

If I am not mistaken, didn't the last episode of buffy state at the end, that all potential salayers are now real slayers? So, it would matter, there is no "next" slayer, they all are slayers now!
