I have these little bits of trivia in my brain concerning a couple of theoretical constructs some people believe exist in the world today. They are called the Iluminati and the New World Order.
Basically the idea goes, world governments don't actually exist. Everything that happens in the world today is manipulated from behind the scenes by an organization that acts as puppetmaster to all law and politics.
I don't know a lot about it, and to be honest, I'm not interested enough in it to do research, but as I recall the two organzations are supposed to look something like this.
The Illumaniti is supposed to go back to medieval times. They have rituals and even magiks. They are neither moral nor immoral. They are made up of the best, the brightest, and the most powerful.
The New World order is similar but it proposes an organization made up of the Illuminati and others; the freemasons, remnants of the knights templar, if I remember correctly even sects of Wiccan and such. All these organizations form a pyramid with a small select circle of leaders on top.
So here's my point. Doesn't all this remind you of the Circle of the Blackthorn?
Here's my problem with all 3 constructs. How can you expect any group of immoral or amoral leaders to get along?
Take the New World Order for example. Suppose on one side of the pyramid you have the Jewish conspiracy to control the world (yes some people believe in it). Suppose on the other side of the pyramid you have the Right Wing Money- brokers conspiracy to control the world (yes there are others who believe in this also). How can you expect these two groups to get along.
According to the NWO theory there is a supreme power on the top of the pyramid that controls the subordinate groups beneath it.
This would be similar to the Circle of the Blackthorn where you have the Circle kept in check by the Senior Partners.
Would that work though? Could you expect Cyvus Vail to bow to the authority of circle-head Sebassis and so on.
Wouldn't the same entropic principles that break down the power structures we commonly think of as running our planet also apply to this proposed immoral super-structure?
So why does Angel think he can't bring this house of cards down? Why is he so convinced it's hopeless, that he considers a hopeless gesture of martyrdom to be the only alternative?
Is the idea that one structure gets torn down, then another one goes up to relace it. If that's the case why does the structure have to be in the Senior Partners' image. Why couldn't it be in Angel's or the PowersThat Be.
I read somewhere Season 6 was going to take place in a post-apocalyptic world where all society had been torn down. I kind of like that idea. Angel rebuilding the world.
