The Next James Bond?

I've got no problem if they want to change Bond to a POC or woman. I've got no real attachment to the character. But I also don't think the solution is to just change established characters, but rather create new ones that are women or POC or whoever that are just as interesting and badass as characters like James Bond. Spy was sort of an attempt at making females spies but that was a comedy not taken seriously. Although, I thought it was funny.

Yeah, I would survive if James Bond changed. It's not the end of the world.
But I would very much prefer if we could get something new instead.

That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation. I absolutely bloody love the guy, just ask @GwenRaiden !

Whilst I think he will make a good Bond, I do worry he'll be typecast. It's something he's managed to avoid up til now. I think once you're Bond, you're pretty much always Bond.

The Night Manager proves he has what it takes, I think.

Plus, he's damn hot!

All of the above ^^^

He would be fine, but he himself always says when asked about it that it's like the national pastime of the UK guessing who the next Bond would be and he I believe last interview I saw which was I think was Stephen Colbert he pretty much said he didn't think he was Bond material but that it would be awesome of course.

I am still team Idris Elba on this, but I wouldn't be sad if it was Hiddles.

Bond is, or should I say was, something special but I honestly stopped caring quite some time ago. When I was young a new Bonde movie was kind of the biggest hype that you'd get. I've watched the new (to be fair I see everything past Dalton as "new") movies, enjoyed some of them and wouldn't be upset if they cast another Bond but neither if the just stop making the movies. I don't really see them as Bond movies anymore anyway. So I wouldn't mind if they would change the character from what it's been for half a century no matter what way.

Since I saw a friend wearing a t-shirt on Facebook with this print I wanted to share.

Oh, yeah, about the Jane or Jenny Bond thing. In all honesty, I think that would just seem soooo gimmicky and forced (like the Ghostbusters movie). I'd love to see a good spy film with a badass female lead, seriously. If the film is good, the film is good. End of story. But that doesn't mean studios have to put female actors in classic male roles. I even think it's almost disrespectful to women. They deserve their own classic characters, don't they? But maybe I'm wrong.
I'm also quite certain that, were it the other way around, there would be quite the public outcry.

I'm guessing you'd champion a female Doctor as well. 😉
I could live with a female Doctor. Considering what happened with The Master nothing is impossible. 😉

there's nothing stopping someone from making a female secret agent series.
I'd love to see that. Salt with Angelina Jolie had promise but even if I think it's better than it's reputation it's definitely lacking something.

True. I think it's because the majority of characters are male to begin with so to "give" them even female roles would cause a bigger reaction than the other way around.
