Ok, there has been a few stories posted on these boards about the nasty side of life(gay prom-gate, japanese video game vileness etc) and I just thought that I would post a story that brought a tear to my eye, this time in a good way:

It's Our Playground

The smiling children in the Phillipines can finally play in safety thanks to the efforts of Mick O'Dockerty from Ulveston. The youngsters, who somehow survive on the rubbish tips of Manilla, see their playground for the first time - and most importantly of all - they learn to play on it.

Right, first off I want to apologise that the link to the video I posted is only available to UK viewers. Obviously being in the UK myself I had no way of knowing this. The basic story is that of Mick O'Dockerty. Mick works for a company here in the UK that makes children's playgrounds. After seeing the children of Manilla who live on the town rubbish dump, scavenging for anything they can find to feed their families. Mick decided to go to Manilla & build a safe and secure playground for these children to play in. The smiles on the kids faces when they get to play in the playground was the absolute highlight of my day. Mick O'Dockerty, top bloke. Again, sorry about the video snafu 🙂
