The Normal Heart

Has anyone else seen this film, I just watched it after reading a great review in the New Yorker, and I have to say it's one of the best films I've ever seen.

Ostensibly, it isn't my usual sort of film, but I'm so glad I deviated from my normal film choice to watch it.

It has a truly stella cast, with every actor delivering a brilliant performance, most notably Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Julia Roberts (Julia Roberts),and Sean Maher (Simon Tam from firefly).

Absolutely brilliant film, Ryan Murphy is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine, I was impressed with American Horror Story, but this film just blew me away with its genuineness, authenticity, and out right bravery to showcase such a story without adding a palpable Hollywood veneer.

Seriously, watch it!

IMDB say:

A gay activist attempts to raise HIV/AIDS awareness during the early 1980s.

But it's much more than that, it's a love story, a historical piece, a gay/lesbian film etc. etc.

It's just really different from any other film I've seen, which may be a result of my particular focus on SF and fantasy, or my girlfriends s***** romcoms, but nevertheless it's a great film.
