I have been Notebooked. And I'm proud of it. It's such a beautiful movie. And the book is nice also, and to be honest, I don't know which one I love more. Nicholas Sparks has this beautiful imagination, I just love his books, from The Notebook, Dear John, and A Walk To Remember, and every one of that books is made into movie with such a great cast 😀
But one more thing I love about The Notebook, it so reminds me of Bangel 🙂
In the beginning, Allie was this strong girl, but she never had a chance to do what she wants to do. Just like Buffy, she did what was best for others, putting herself in the second place. Noah was never this open guy, he had his secrets, but the first time he saw Allie, he knew he wants her and that she is going to be his. That she is worth fighting for. Just like Angel knew about Buffy. And they spent this wondeful summer together, but one day when he heard Allies parents talking with her about him, he convinced himself he's not good for her, just like Angel thought he can't give Buffy all the things she deserves. Allie left, just like Angel, but the only difference is Angel left because he thought that is best for both of them, and Allie never wanted to leave, but had to, because of her parents. But they both left, and just like Noah, Buffy was crushed. Allie felt in love again, just like Buffy did, and she loved her new boyfriend with all of her heart. Noah never moved on, he was trying to find ways to get Allie back. He made a house for them, because that was their plan, and he thought she is going to get back to him. And she did, after all, she comed back. And the old flame burned again. They've ended up together, and they were happy till the day they died.
Noah was Allies first love, and she loved again after him, but in the end, no matter what, he was her true love.
And I do belive your first love can be your true love. Cause first love can be your crush from little school, and your first love can be from the time when you were 17. And just like Allie came back to Noah, after she conviced herself their love can beat everything, when she figured out that he is the only man for her, she came back to him. Just like I belive Buffy is going to get back to Angel! 😉

Ok, my word on this probably won't count for this but Bangel aside, The Notebook is a really gorgeous movie. Old fashioned romance and a stunning setting. Beautiful film.

Truly is. I love the time where the movie is happening :) their clothes is so nice :)
I love this film. It is a pure work of art. (And I'm a huge film snob and for ages thought this would suck, but it's amazing). I've never thought about it in comparison to B/A and I still don't think that I will, no offence, but because they are two individual epic love stories and I wouldn't want to compare them.

np! I just thought every good love story has this one thing in common - happy ending! so i belive bangel have it too :)

Totally agreement on all points. The Notebook to me is what film making should be. The fact that it is set in the 40's doesn't hurt it either (I love the period).

I've never compared it to Bangel either and I also doubt that I will. I like having then as two separate stories.

This movie is so sad!! I love it!!! 🙂 I remember it won some award, and Ryan and Rachel reenacted their kiss in the rain when they went up on stage. Whew, it was steamy, my friends watched it over and over and hollered and hooted everytime 😛

MTV Movie Award for best kiss :)
They just had such amazing chemistry. And it's not just the sappy love story it's made out to be. I love it when he's screaming at her to jump in the water, it totally cracks me up.

I think it's pretty safe to say that this is the movie I cried the most at. I was absolutely heartbroken. I turned round to look at my boyfriend and I was trying not to cry, although tears were flooding down my face, and I said 'I think that's the saddest film I've ever seen' and then sobbed my heart out for like half an hour, lol.

If I could relate it to anyone from a show I think it'd be Lucas and Peyton, from OTH, in the sense that I could picture it being the two of them but as with Bangel, I wouldn't compare them I can just see it with those two as well.

A little off-topic but is the book good? I'd forgotten it was a novel, I'd like to read it if it's good - although I know that's kind of subjective but meh.

Can't judge, I'm a big Brucas fan :D
I read the book in an afternoon. I saw the film first so that always is MY version of the story if you know what I mean? The scene when she comes back to visit him when he has the house built always stands out more vividly in the book for me than in the film.

Everyone says this is the saddest film ever but I personally find it one of the happiest and full of hope.

They fell in love at 17, were torn apart but eventually found their way back to each other, lived a long, happy life together and died in each other's arms. I couldn't think of a happier ending.

I don't think it's saddest, I think it's the most beautiful movie ever, with A Walk To Remember and The Time Traveler's Wife, and I enjoed Prije and Prejudice :) and Atonement :)
Yep, Ryan and Rachel had such a good chemistry. And it's true, I cried most of the movie. But it's so good. I loved the scene when she jumped in the water too, and he was such a cuttie while he was screaming, and I like the scene when old Noah says "They didn't agree on much. In fact they rarely agreed on anything. They fought all the time and they challenged eachother everyday". And of course, famous rain kiss, and when they make love she says "So this is what I've been missing for all these years". It's not all romance, it's funny, but still, you can go aww. And when she gets back to him, when she hugs him, God, I was so happy. I was very surprised when I've read on the internet in the comments that some people wanted her to get back with Lon :S For me, that was like, not an option. But the end, when they die, I just crack.

And Flannen, the book is excellent. It's so well written, the words are carfeully chosen, if you enjoyed the movie, you'll enjoy the book 🙂 and it's not that long.

Didn't Ryan and Rachel date in real life as well?

I loved this film as well. I also liked "A Walk to Remember." Believe it or not, I'm a sucker for those epic romance movies. I just watched "Bright Star" last night with my mom, and we were both crying at the end!

I remember when my ex-boyfriend and I watched "The Notebook" together. He was convinced he wouldn't like it and I had low expectations, but by the end, we were both crying like little babies, lol.

The film is beautiful, and the two actors have great chemistry, I agree. 😉

What are some of your other favorite romantic movies, guys? For me, "Casablanca" takes the cake as one of the greatest films ever made. It's so romantic, yet so sad as well.

Yep, they did, two times, and they were engaged, but they split both of the times :(

GIRL, for someone who has so much belief in love you've got the wrong ship! But, sadly, that is not for here. Which sucks cos I really wanna have this out 😛 😉

Don't get me wrong, I think the story is full of hope and its beautiful and empowering, in a way, but my Grandfather had Alzheimers so I find those last few scenes really difficult to watch. Anyway.

I actually really liked the love story in Sweet Home Alabama - not a classic by any stretch but I enjoyed it. Other than that, I'm not a huge romance film fan really. Nothing springs to mind...

I just saw something beautiful and not so ordinary in them. And I always hated Peyton.

*gasps* Knife to heart, my friend, knife to heart. I don't EVER wanna see you bashing Peyton again! It's like bashing a part of me! 😉 😛

*wanders away opening and closing mouth in disbelief*

Haha, sorry Flannen, just she's never been my kind of person. But I do like her friendship with Brooke 🙂 And I have to admit it's a little boring without Leyton in season 7. But Brooke will always be in my heart <3

It's ok...kinda...;) :p
This is an extraordinary story. It is so sad that she forgets everything and her Noah keeps reminding her the story everyday.

It is amazing that their love lasted so long...they never forgot each other and finally they ended up together. It's extremely romantic!!!And although I love romantic movies combined with action I really love this one and I have tears in my eyes in the end. The ultimate love...leaving this world together.

and yeah it reminds me of Bangel cause no matter the distance, or the differences these two are meant to be together...they are just bound together. Sometimes you can't avoid that. Sometimes only one person can make you complete as a human being, be your soulmate and the one you can't live without. You can still care and love other people but I always thought there is this ONE person who can never be replaced in your heart.
