The last OC thread is now dead and buried, but I just wanted to know if anyone watched the first ep of season 4?

I just watched it on YouTube, and thought it was brilliant! It was so much better then the entire third season combined together.

I was going in with low expectations, I really wanted it to start right after Marissas death, but the season opener was amazing, seriously good TV.

The Characters have all grown up, but in very believeable ways, and still keeping with their characters!

I was all ready for this to be the last season of the OC, but I thought this episode was season 1 standard, and if they can keep it like that, I don't want it over yet!!
 
Yeah I think this season could be ok, better than the last, I hope.. This episode wasn't particularly funny though (which makes sense but still), which is what I usually love about OC..

I agree that it wasn't as funny as some of the other eps, but there were some really good funny moments in there.

But it was allot darker, which I really liked. Season 1 was darker, especially the pilot, and this episode was much more like that, even the music was darker, but still good!

LMAO!! Thats hilarious! It's really well done, they actually have the characters manerisms down really well!!
 
Yeah I know, and the "omg mom you're gonna seduce him, you're seducing him!" was sooo hilarious. As well as the "do you really want to know what's on my mind? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..." thing. Lol. They really know the show. And that guy actually looked a lot like Marissa at times 😀
 
Possible stand-off between the CW's "One Tree Hill" and "The O.C."? Apparently FOX may move the show to a Wednesday 9 pm timeslot, depending on the ratings this Wednesday, November 8th. Maybe we will FINALLY see an end come to "the O.C."! Ever since season 2, it hasnt hit it off well. Especially with it's appalling 3rd season. This could very well be the last season of the show. [I hope so, at least]. In any way, I willenjoy seeing how the ratings turn out this week. And you know, I'll definately choose One Tree Hill over the OC ANYTIME.

I watched the first episode last night. Its not gonna be a happy season. Looks like Seth and Summer are gonna break up again but really soon this time.

Hehe, sorry guys. I know that some of you are big fans of this show but after being forced to sit through the first season and half of the second by my then girlfriend I have built an OC firewall in my brain to prevent any further contamination.

I now return to my self inflicted OC denial... 😉
 
I was spoiled and knew what was going to happen so I wasn't surprised or anything. I'm not really bothered.. I mean obviously it can't be the same show without her, since she was one of the main characters, but she was annoying... heh. Seriously, I used to like her, but her acting became too much at some point.. idk..
 
I watched the first season of The O.C. because a girl asked me too. So I did. I was surprised at how good it was, I didn't expect it to be so funny and to poke fun of its own genre like it did. So then I downloaded the second season. Um. It wasn't good. It wasn't fun anymore either and felt like a REAL teen soap so I stopped watching it three episodes into the second season.
 
Like I said above, watching the first season and a half of The OC for me was because my lady at the time was a fan (a tradeoff for the fact I used to make her watch 24, hehe) but I honestly did try and like it, if only so that the time spent watching didn't seem like a total waste to me.

I really could not get into it at all though. I never liked any of the characters, the situations and plotlines didn't interest me in the slightest and I actually struggled to keep my eyes open some weeks. I just could not identify with any of the various characters at all, which automatically alienates me when I watch something. Even in fantasy shows like Buffy where the characters are imaginary creatures or superhuman I can normally relate to them on some level but nothing about the OC's cast hooked me into liking them in the slightest. Even my most superficial reason for watching a show (hot girls) wasn't enough to keep me watching once I split with the girl I was seeing.

On the other hand, at least it wasn't One Tree Hill. I'd have split up with her a year earlier if she had tried making me watch that! 😀
 
Ah my classmate compared The OC to Dawson's Creek the other day, saying it was basically the same thing, which got me kind of upset. Heh.
I'm not the biggest OC fan, but there are things – like the dialogues/humour – that makes it worth watching imo..

One Tree Hill is a LOT better than the OC. Well, the first, third and this season. SEason 2 was a little out there with HAley's rock star storyline, but really, One Tree Hill does a good job with its plotlines. The school shooting episode, the stalker storyline this season. What good storyline does the OC have?

I enjoy OTH but It's nothing compared to The OC's first season. Even in the second and third season, as Epo mentioned, The Dialogue was always better then OTH's, it was allot funnier and the characters were better.

I also think Any one of the storylines from season 1 were better then any I have seen on OTH. Like The O.C. can be over the top, But OTH just shoots right over that!

If The O.C. can continue like the first ep of season 4, Then their would be no competition for me I would choose The OC, if it was last year I may have had to think about it but I still think I would have chosen the OC. I'd much rather see more seasons of The O.C. then OTH, so I hope it does better in that time slot!
 
I can agree that OTH's storylines are "“ at times "“ more "realistic" while OC's can be way too much. But other than that, yeah, I'm with BEG on this.. OC's characters are just so much more interesting, I'm not even a big OC fan anymore, but as soon as I start watching an episode.. well.. I actually care about these characters, almost all of them feel real to me (hey not all but most).. While on OTH, well honestly, I like a few of them but, I don't actually feel like I know the characters the way I know Ryan, Seth, Summer, Kirsten, Sandy etc.. And again, cannot stress the dialogue thing enough 😀
 
Never watched one tree hill (well perhaps a few seconds when on a channel flicking spree) so I can't really do a fair comparison but suggesting that the OC has no good storylines is in my opinion WAY off. Even when the storylines are a bit unrealistic(Even though I think a lot of them, even though 'upped' in drama, are very relatable and good storylines and a lot realistic) it does its job - entertain.

And come on, the dialogue in the OC is pretty darn good!
 
Gotta say I am really impressed with The O.C., the second and third eps were just as fantastic as the first! They have handeled the character death and how people are handeling it, very well.

It's so odd how it has an amazing first season, then gets kinda crappy for the second and third, and amazing again for the forth, I'm a little annoyed that we haven't had 4 seasons of this quality TV since they can clearly still do it!!
 
Were ther 2 episodes on this week cos I watched 2 last night

Anyway, Im surprised (but happy) to see that they seem to be moving on from the MArissa thing so quickly (except for maybe Summer). I was getting worried that it would take over the whole show.
